A big step towards circularity in medical devices! This week saw the release of the Design for Life?Roadmap (link below), a major milestone for the future of medtech in the UK. At Pd-m, we are proud to have been part of the workshops held by the DHSC, working alongside over 80 stakeholders from industry, the NHS, academia, and regulatory bodies to shape this forward-looking initiative. This program sets out a vision for a circular approach in medtech—designing, procuring, and processing medical products to enable reuse, remanufacturing, or recycling. By extending the lifespan of products, we can preserve value, foster innovation, and support the transition to a net-zero NHS, all while delivering better patient care and cost efficiency. The roadmap highlights six key challenges, from aligning strategies and changing behaviours, to evolving regulations and fostering transformative innovation. Addressing these will be crucial to achieving the 2045 vision of a robust circular system, minimizing environmental impact while driving economic growth. It’s exciting to see the sector come together to formalise a roadmap supporting a net-zero transformation. We at Pd-m are eager to continue collaborating and advocating for the key role of design in the journey, whilst actively working with clients today on shaping their products to support a more sustainable and resilient medtech landscape. https://lnkd.in/e4yBKEMB #DesignForLife #MedTech #Sustainability #CircularEconomy #NetZeroNHS #wetakeyoufurther

I've been very fortunate to get involved in this initiative, and to collaborate with like minds (below) from across industry and beyond. It's a mammoth challenge with an incredible number of stakeholders and dependencies to consider.
