I'm stealing this one from Austin Kleon's book Steal Like an Artist. 'Nothing is new under the Sun'. Creativity is not about originality but rather about borrowing and remixing ideas from various influences. We shall embrace inspirations and that all creative work builds on what came before. By keeping the mind open and ready for exploration we can find our unique voice. Following are the key points discussed to take practical steps to navigate the creative process. Embrace Influence and Remix Ideas: Draw inspiration from others, blend styles, and make something uniquely yours. Start Creating Now: Don't Wait for Perfection: Dive into your craft; the best work often emerges from experimentation, not waiting for the "perfect" moment. Create the Work You Want to See: Let your passions guide you, if it doesn't exist yet, it’s your job to bring it to life! Use Your Hands: Engage in Analog Creation: Get tactile with your art; the physical process can spark new ideas and deeper connections. Embrace Side Projects: Nurture Multiple Passions: Explore various interests, your side projects can ignite creativity and lead to unexpected collaborations. Share Your Work: Put Your Creations Out There: Don’t be shy; sharing your art invites feedback and builds community around your vision. Connect Globally: Use the digital world to connect with fellow creatives worldwide, collaboration knows no borders! Cultivate a Supportive Network: Surround yourself with like-minded artists who inspire and uplift you; creativity thrives in a nurturing environment. Embrace Boredom: Find Creativity in Routine: Use quiet moments to let your mind wander, boredom can be a powerful catalyst for creativity. Maintain a Sustainable Creative Life: Balance your passion with self-care to ensure your creativity flourishes for years to come. #steallikeanartist #creativity #stickynotes

I know it’s a great saying that “Good artists copy, great artists steal.” By Pablo Picasso and it’s Steve Job’s favourite quote too but it doesn’t mean mindlessly copying someone else’s work. It’s about absorbing inspiration from various sources, internalizing it, and then making it your own by adding a unique perspective or innovative twist. In the digital age, where content is abundant, adding your personal touch is crucial. Just replicating what’s out there adds no value. #beoriginal #digitalmedia #socialmedia

Here's a piece of advice on how to turn those "a-ha" moments into reality: 1. Jam & Explore: Let loose and experiment! Just like musicians jam, free yourself from judgment and explore new sounds, ideas, or techniques. 2. Analyze & Reflect: Take a break! Don't analyze your creations right away. Give your brain time to rest and come back with fresh eyes later. 3. Refine & Build: Evaluate your work objectively. Identify potential gems and start building upon them, iterating and refining as you go. Remember, creativity thrives on exploration and distance. So, have fun, experiment, and don't be afraid to get messy! #creativity #ideas #innovation #qubesoundlab #mixingStudio #soundlab #audioediting #musicproduction

Your brain has a dirty little secret. It can only think at 10 bits per second. But it processes sensory input at 1 billion bits per second. This cognitive “speed limit” means that we rely on our senses, especially sound, to filter and interpret the world around us. Caltech researchers have quantified the speed of human thought and compared it to sensory processing speeds (full text here: https://lnkd.in/eH5Byqu4). The results mean that we THINK about 100 million times slower than we HEAR. Sound hits us well before we start thinking. This is why sound and music are powerful tools for creating memorable connections. Unlike visual elements, which often require conscious interpretation, sound travels directly to the brain's emotional centers, cutting through cognitive clutter. A sonic logo or a well-designed soundtrack doesn’t just get noticed - it gets FELT. It speaks to our instincts faster than we can consciously process, making sound one of the most efficient ways to communicate a brand’s identity and values. #sonicbranding #audioidentity #neuromarketing

There are no 'right' definitions for the word 'Creative'. When abstract ideas are transformed into tangible expressions that make us feel something new, we call it a creative work of art. Then there are people who engage in creative work daily, such as art, music, writing, dance, and design. We know them as creative professionals. And then there is something else: a skill, a way of thinking to solve old problems with a new perspective, which we call being creative. The third one is the kind, all of us have exercised and experienced before, without realizing it. Whether it’s figuring out how to fix a broken device at home or navigating interpersonal relationships, all of us have faced challenges that require creative thinking. Yet we think of creativity as something magical, limited to a few. When it's really about how we interpret and engage with the world around us. ---- Creativity exists in all of us, How we choose to define it changes everything. #creativity #problemsolving #creativethinking

Neuroscience of WHY audio works so powerfully and quickly:

Did you know sensory seeking is closely tied to creativity? Although often seen as distracting or disruptive, sensory seeking is a powerful driver of creativity and excellence across many fields. It’s through seeking sensory feedback that musicians craft new melodies, artists transform visual and tactile elements into stunning works, choreographers create captivating dances, and chefs innovate with taste, texture, and aroma. This connection resonates deeply with my own creative process. When I create collages, I’m drawn to experimenting with colour, patterns, and composition. My goal is to evoke a wow! reaction in viewers. Yet, as I grow accustomed to my work, that initial spark fades, and I find myself craving new sensory challenges—new ways to excite and push my creativity. This continuous drive to explore not only keeps my art evolving but also inspires me to push the boundaries of my creativity. It’s time we rethink sensory seeking—not as a disruption but as part of a profound catalyst for creativity. #SensoryProcessing #Creativity #OccupationalTherapy

Continuing on my earlier blog on Artists Way - even as a child the artist within us is redirected to pursue "worthwhile, less fancy, sensible" things by parents & societal imagery - as we grow we become doctors or lawyers or engineers etc but the compromised artist within us flowers slowly as a "shadow artist" - one becomes a critic, takes a sagely view of another artist, runs away from an oppty to get the creativity back - never late to start working on ones "creative recovery" - but how? - discover and expunge ones core negative beliefs - thats the enemy lurking within - get rid of self limiting beliefs like - friends & family will think I am nuts, I lack good ideas, will upset my parents, will end up looking like a fool, its too late etc. - knock your censor over - censor questions you n your self-belief, true worth, the inside chatter, self doubt etc., - counter these with affirmative weapons - positive thoughts like i can, am a brilliant artist n can be successful, competent, confident etc., use few simple tools, ready to experience the energy so get ready to go on, out - write a journal recapping your experiences, slowly build it to a book, play the guitar, learn a new sport unleash the capability within, allow it to flourish by keeping at it with positive thoughts and energy. #unleashcreativity #breakbarriers #giveitago #allareartists

Leading Creative Change: Innovating Without Losing Artistic Integrity The creative industry is undergoing constant transformation, driven by new technologies, shifting audience expectations, and evolving business models. Yet many creatives resist change, fearing it will dilute their artistic integrity or disrupt their unique vision. This resistance, however, can hinder growth and leave creators behind as the industry moves forward. Leading change in the creative field requires a nuanced, human-centered approach, one that protects creative authenticity while embracing innovation. Traditional change management models fall short in this space. What creatives need is leadership that respects their artistry while guiding them through necessary transformations. Take Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Hamilton as an example. Miranda revolutionised musical theatre by merging historical storytelling with diverse, modern music. He didn’t resist the evolution of his art form; he led it, showing how bold, innovative decisions can redefine entire industries. His work proves that creativity doesn’t have to be sacrificed in the face of change, it can thrive when guided strategically. At #PalaScribe, we take a similar approach to leading change within the creative industry. Through personalised mentorship and strategic guidance, we help creatives embrace innovation without losing their voice. Projects like #DrawForACause show that, when guided with care, change doesn’t diminish creativity, it amplifies it. The future of the creative industry hinges on one key question: Will we allow creatives to lead their own evolution, or will resistance to change stifle their potential? At #PalaScribe, we believe that by empowering creatives to lead through change, we’re building the next generation of visionaries. #LinManuelMiranda #EmpoweringCreatives #ArtisticIntegrity #LeadershipInChange #CreativeMentorship #CulturalInnovation #ArtAndBusiness #ForbesLeadership #PalaScribeImpact
