Congratulations to the CCA Global University team for winning the prestigious Training Apex Award from Training magazine for the 5th year in a row! ?? This year, the CCA Global University's comprehensive "Ready, Set, Go" training initiative, curated library of industry training modules, and ongoing investment in Retail 2.0 training for retail showrooms were instrumental in their selection. The government has just announced the creation of a new body called Skills England to meet the UK’s skills needs for the next decade. It will be chaired by former Chief Executive of the Co-op Richard Pennycook CBE. Launched by Sir Keir Starmer and Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson, the new organisation will “jumpstart young people’s careers and galvanise local economies. It will bring businesses together with trade unions, mayors, universities, colleges and training providers to give us a complete picture of skills gaps nationwide, boost growth in all corners of the country and give people the opportunity to get on in life.” The renewed government focus on skills certainly reflects the concerns of industry leaders we speak to. Our recent report, based on the experiences of more than 40 senior industry executives, The Skills Evolution Roadmap 2025, ?? https://lnkd.in/e-BqG-Nc ?? offers practical insight and suggestions for automotive and mobility companies to bridge the skills gap from early career onwards. Yesterday’s announcement about the Skills England organisation explains that there is a particular focus on reducing reliance on overseas workers, Labour plans to ensure a robust, home-grown workforce and will collaborate with educational establishments to develop the technical qualifications needed to future-proof Britain’s EV future. We will continue our work to support the future skills agenda through our contribution to the Automotive Council’s Skills Working Group, and publication of market insight and intelligence including our recent work on The Cost of Your Skills Gap. Are you curious what makes the Certificate in Corporate Travel Execution (CCTE) program effective and worthwhile? Hear from our past participants sharing their experience highlights: ???Strong instructors that were able to link the theory to examples which will remain in the mind for a long time ? Participant engagement works very well. It opens up the forum for everyone to think, speak and add to the discussion. ? Format is just right; staff are very supportive; professors are prepared and knowledgeable. ? Each teacher really came through with real life examples to apply the theories to. ? The communication between student and teacher was the highlights of the class and often times, the discussion went to unique thought-provoking places. ? Great program. I learned a lot and was able to connect with some amazing colleagues. This program, offered by #GBTAAcademy in collaboration with @eCornell, is only available one in two years. Don’t miss this professional development opportunity, learn more and register by September 9! https://lnkd.in/getTukzc #GBTA #CCTE #corporatetravel

Now it's time to showcase our third award winner, Neil Philipson CPP. CAP. Fellow APMP MBA, who picked up the award for Contribution to the Profession. ??It’s great to see you win an award Neil, could you tell us a bit about your nomination? My application focused on me being one of Mott MacDonald’s most senior bid professionals and the advantage this brings not just to the business but the wider profession. My nomination highlighted that as well as leading on the capture and bid management phases of an opportunity, I also form an integral part of our win community’s development process. The submission showed how I champion the bidding profession using my industry experience, knowledge of APMP and associated qualifications. It also highlighted my passion for undertaking mentoring, training and professional talks both inside and outside of the company. The nomination had numerous live examples that meant tonnes of evidence that would resonate with any bid profession. ?? How does it feel to win the Contribution to the Profession award? I am extremely proud to win this award and be recognised for my contribution. APMP is something I truly believe in. The APMP gave me a place I could call home. It created a career for me that I never thought existed and Certifications supported my growth and made me relevant in organisations I worked for. I have dedicated a lot of time over the last 15+ years to serving the APMP through volunteering in various roles, travelling to conferences and events, writing articles and supporting other members in their careers, all whilst having fun. Most importantly it provided a platform where I could contribute and give back to newcomers to the Association by mentoring them and giving them some career direction based on my experience. These have been the best years of my working career. ?? What pearls of wisdom would you like to share? APMP is essentially a volunteer organisation and if you want to benefit from it, it is worthwhile volunteering and contributing. Promote APMP in your organisations and be the leading light in winning work using best practice. You can be the change. From an entering the awards point of view. Have a strategy developed early in the year – have an idea who you could nominate, gather the evidence and leave plenty of time to produce a great entry. Treat it like a bid – storyboard, evidence, review! #ProudToBeAPMP #ContributionToTheProfession #2024AwardWinner #Congratulations #BIDx #TBO2024

Did you know that there is a credential in Canada for Career Development? Did you know that it is a nationally recognized credential? Coaching our leaders and aspiring leaders in career development based on a model designed as a competency model, may not be enough in these complex times. It may be that some additional expertise in lifespan career development, an in-depth understanding of the labour market as it is evolving and tools and strategies for maximizing career development are critical leadership coaching skills. And... how might we support our clients who are considering #neurodiversityatwork and our leaders who are working to create #inclusive career pathways? #leadershipcoaching #coaching
National Career Development Certification is a REALITY!!! The official launch happened today at the NSCDA office in Bedford. Go to careercertification.ca if you are interested in becoming a CCDP! #careercertification #CCDP

Skills England and IfATE IfATE has published a message on its website about the work that Skills England will be doing and how it will work with them. They say: "The King’s Speech set out the Government’s intention to bring forward legislation to pass IfATE's functions to Skills England. The important work employers and others have been doing with IfATE over the past seven years to shape the skills system would then be taken on by Skills England." Additionally; "The exact timing will be dependent on the passage of the bill; we will make sure that we keep you updated throughout this exciting and positive development for our sector. The foundation has been laid by IfATE for employers to play a crucial role as the driving force in the future system, and to have a loud and important voice in the work of Skills England." And lastly: "Bringing these areas together under a single entity is an exciting opportunity to have more impact on this complex area and for employers to continue to be at the heart of the skills system. We are working closely with our colleagues in the Department for Education on the set-up of Skills England and will keep you informed. As the planning becomes more detailed, we will need your views, advice and expertise to set Skills England on the path to success." So, on we go. I think from the last paragraph we can expect (not unexpected) consultations and requests coming forward to the sector asking for input into how all of this looks and moves forward. #ifate #skillsengland #transition #employers #skills #success https://lnkd.in/eazerzQy ?
