Mr. Ratan Tata passed away yesterday. As a member of the TATA Group, I would like to express my heartfelt condolences to him. Just yesterday, in a session of the newly launched "TATA Discovery Program" at TCS Japan Academy, which delves deeper into TATA, we welcomed Colin Tse, the associate director of #TATACommunications Japan, and were feeling the "TATA Value" that the TATA Group has been protecting and practicing in common. The founding philosophy of the TATA Group, founded by Jamsetji Tata in 1868, is "The community is not just a stakeholder, but the very purpose of the existence of the enterprise ." I was shocked by these words and joined the company. In fact, the TATA Group has been practicing what is now called Purpose management for over 150 years. Half of my career has been with NGOs and NPOs, and even if we had a lofty goal, we were hit the wall of money. The idea that "earning is evil" is at the root of it. However, I think that "earning is not evil, the key is how to use it." What makes TATA different from other companies is that it has a system for giving back the money it earns to society. Before COVID-19, I visited #InternetSaathi, an initiative run by TATA Trusts and Google to improve the lives of rural women through digital literacy. It has reached more than 20 million women. Small, joyful changes are occurring all over India, such as using IT to start small businesses and educate children. I am proud that the money we have earned is being properly delivered to society and used for activities that improve society. As someone deeply passionate about creating inclusive digital experiences, I recently encountered a challenge while exploring the registration process on TCS's Career Portal. The captcha field currently lacks an audio verification option, which creates a significant barrier for individuals who are blind or have visual impairments. Despite reaching out to the support team regarding this issue, I have not yet received a response. Accessibility is a shared responsibility, and I believe companies like TCS, known for their technological leadership, can set a strong example by addressing such gaps. Implementing an audio captcha or an alternative solution would ensure that the platform is inclusive for everyone, regardless of their abilities. Let’s work together to create technology that empowers, not excludes.
