As High-Level Week of the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) draws near, I'm looking forward to joining business and political leaders from around the world as they gather in New York.? UNGA is the main policy-making organ of the UN. Comprising all Governments (Member States), it provides a unique forum for multilateral discussions of the full spectrum of international issues covered by the Charter of the UN. With 193 Governments, the global private sector, civil society and many other stakeholders, UNGA allows transformative public-private partnerships to emerge under the shared objective of advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and delivering on the 2030 Agenda. To amplify this effort, the UN Global Compact is leading action and outcome-focused convenings, building on private sector ambition and forging pathways for new partnerships. Key moments to watch for: - At the Summit of the Future, we'll launch our Generative AI report as part of 'A Digital Future for All' programming. More details: https://lnkd.in/evu55kuA - Also launching are reports on Policy Enablers, Accelerating Innovation in Sustainable Finance, and Forward Faster initiative progress. - At the Private Sector Forum, we’ll push for accelerated SDG progress through Forward Faster, which drives ambitious private sector action on key SDG delivery areas. - Unstoppable Africa, flagship initiative of the Global Africa Business Initiative (GABI), will convene African and global business leaders, governments, investors and philanthropy to reshape Africa’s narrative and highlight opportunities for Africa and the world. - The Leaders Summit rallies business leaders, governments, and civil society to integrate and accelerate sustainability through a broad action and outcome-based agenda. Virtual Registration: https://lnkd.in/exwJJBnu Across our convenings, we will galvanize the private sector by providing clear guidance on how to integrate the UNGC principles , implement the SDGs and strengthen business purpose and profitability. I anticipate several outcomes underpinned by the call for a refreshed multilateral system and stronger global governance: - The Pact for the Future will chart a path for SDG achievement, including a Global Digital Compact and a Declaration on Future Generations - New company commitments under Forward Faster will accelerate progress across our key action areas - Unstoppable Africa will announce new partnerships and investments centred around Africa's private sector. In the lead up to UNGA79, there has been significant preparatory work, research, planning and reflection. Thank you to our Board members, business participants, partners and my team at the UN Global Compact, for all your insights and inputs as we move forward towards a more sustainable and inclusive world!
