Do you use contact lists on LinkedIn? Here is what you need to know: Contact lists are a go-to on Meta and Google, but on LinkedIn - not so much. 1) It is hard to get a good match rate. A typical B2B contact list has work emails. But people rarely mention their work emails anywhere on the profile. To get a good match rate, you must provide as much info as possible: email, name, job title, company. But even then, success is not guaranteed. 2) Contact lists get outdated real fast People change jobs all the time. A relevant contact can become irrelevant in a matter of months. This issue doesn't exist with the company lists. You are going after companies, not individuals. 3) You don't know if you target the right person You might assume that a CFO has all the decision-making power and target him. In reality, you don’t know who else is on the buying committee and who does the product research. By hyper-targeting, you might be missing out on the rest of your ICP. Again, this problem doesn't exist when you use a company list + job titles/functions. It casts a wider net. But there is a good use case for the contact list: Warm contacts People who have been to your events, webinars, read your newsletter, etc.. They had a strong touchpoint and it is easier to approach them. Warm contact lists have all the same weaknesses. But it can be a powerful audience for a short-term, converting campaign. But for the cold campaigns, a company list + job titles/functions is better.?
Oooh will try the combo of companies PLUS job titles. I'm also using the Hubspot/LinkedIn audience integration (third party audiences) for the first time and it seems great - I assume the accuracy is better but don't know for certain.
The biggest challenge of using contact list on LinkedIn is the poor match rate.
This remind me the post I published today. You are mentioning one of the biggest issue" People change jobs all the time·. The best option is to synchronize your CRM with Linkedin, using dynamic contact list with solid criterias but this is only a good option for people who already interacted with your company. Whether or not a CRM is used, cold targeting precision with contact lists remains a big challenge.
I've had match rates of only 5-20% for contact lists, while for company lists I get a minimum of 75%. So I tend to stick to company lists + extra filters. ??
Luckily LI demographic based audiences are really good, as opposed to Meta's interests which suck lol
Absolutely right, Company lists are much more powerful in general on linkedin ads ??
Yep I much prefer company lists and then filtering people by titles/function/seniority etc
+1 for using company list. It gives more insights than contact list and a lot of hidden goldmines when checked smartly??
