Taking climate action can actually be fun, says behavioral scientist Jiaying Zhao. Try out some of her hacks designed to keep you — and the planet — happier: https://t.ted.com/O6EENJK
Inasmuch as I agree with you Jiaying on this message of less is more, I it’s going to be very hard to implement for those who are constantly consuming advertising. Lately almost every advert about these products are designed to make you feel less of yourself if you do not get the latest version or even the product you see. Nevertheless, it’s worth a try.
Making sustainability fun is the way to keep both our planet and spirits uplifted!
That's fascinating! I believe that discovering enjoyable and engaging ways to tackle climate change is key to making the process more sustainable over time. It's fantastic to see experts like zhao emphasize how crucial it is to make climate action both accessible and appealing to all. There are countless initiatives out there that promote environmental sustainability, many of which even scientists may not yet be aware of.

I think the mental shift for adaptation has eluded researchers and policy makers so far. I just began my Sustainabity Education PhD and seeing the gap. If we could link it to dopamine we would have a hit! I think this Ted talk is a dire tion research needs to go next. Contemplating for dissertation.
What nonsense how things that are good for our health and that for the planet we live on don't seem 'fun' to some!

I have learnt not to mention my views on Binary topics for my own peace of mind (though it is amusing at times, but unproductive) to avoid getting attacked by the other side. To the believers, action would not be a misery but a matter of survival. To the deniers it wouldn’t matter. To others ( those not aware and those who simply do not have the time, and these I believe constitute the majority), it wouldn’t matter. That would leave those who are making the attempts they can and these could be good suggestions for them, but I do wonder about the number of people that would make it a happiness exercise. In any case, good intentions always need to be applauded, so ??.
