The All-Ukrainian Network for Integrity and Compliance (UNIC) will actively work to strengthen anti-corruption mechanisms in the public sector within the framework of the project "Business Integrity as a Basis for Sustainable Recovery," which is implemented with the support of USAID and UK International Development. One of the key tasks is to promote the implementation of OECD standards and recommendations in the activities of state-owned companies (SOCs). What does this direction entail? ?? Increasing the capacity of employees of state-owned companies. This year, the Network plans to regularly organize events involving SOC representatives, including within the Compliance Officers Club. Such meetings will become a platform for exchanging experiences, discussing challenges, and implementing new solutions in the field of anti-corruption compliance. ?? Implementing educational initiatives. A comprehensive modular program is being developed within the Business Integrity Academy, which aims to provide compliance officers with systemic knowledge of compliance, ethical management, and corruption prevention. One of the program modules will be entirely devoted to the specifics of building a compliance system at state-owned enterprises. ? The implementation of the above measures will help increase the efficiency of compliance officers at state-owned enterprises, create conditions for reducing corruption risks, and strengthen trust in the public sector. This direction of work on the project is an important part of UNIC's mission to spread a culture of integrity, promote transparency in the interaction between the state and business, as well as support reforms in the public sector of Ukraine. ?? Ranhill Utilities Bhd subsidiary's (Ranhill SAJ Sdn Bhd) CEO and company owner being investigated by MACC for alleged involvement in bribery. This was following complaints alleging that the CEO and company owner of Ranhill SAJ Sdn Bhd were receiving bribes from two contractors, to assist the contractor companies in securing service and supply contracts from Ranhill SAJ. Both men had allegedly submitted documents containing false information regarding an application for donations amounting to RM3.3 million. The programme was not fully implemented. Ranhill Utilities Berhad has informed that the "it will revisit its corruption risk management policy and procedures on corporate governance to ensure compliance and enhancement where necessary." Corruption Risk Management (CRM ) is a essential feature for private and public organisations in the battle against corruption. Having a Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption (ABAC) policy on zero tolerance for bribery, corruption and fraud has to be supplemented with a comprehensive corruption risk assessment. Corruption risks specific to the organisation have to be identified, analysed, assessed and evaluated with a focus on being transparent about such risk scenarios during the CRM exercise. The mitigating action plans, policies, procedures and controls are dependent on the risks identified during the corruption risk assessment process of the CRM: the critical corruption risk identification phase. Corruption Risk Management (CRM) is a risk management tool for corruption prevention : to prevent, detect and respond to bribery and corruption risks. However, the power matrix in an organisation - who wields ultimate power in the chain of command - can, on occasion, scupper the best laid mitigation plans and actions.
