How can companies sell AI with a straight face unless they’re using it, too? If a company’s AI automates email marketing, their first message better knock my socks off, but most don’t. If Devin (AI coding agent) is so capable, why is its website so basic? Wouldn’t you want to show off what Devin can do by redesigning parts of the site daily or having showcase pages and apps? If Microsoft’s Copilots are delivering massive productivity boosts, I expect to see the company showing off all the things Copilots are used for inside of Microsoft. Where is it? Google says AI is writing 25% of its code, and I see an increase in the Gemini and NotebookLM feature delivery rate. It’s plausible. Meta says its customers use AI to build better ad campaigns on its social platform. Advertisers are spending more with Meta, and ad campaigns are more effective than before. It’s plausible. Salesforce uses its AI agents to run its customer support website. The agents reduced support request escalations by 50% and handle 83% of customer questions. It’s plausible. If a company wants to sell me amazing AI, I want to see that AI doing amazing things for their company first. I can assess whether a company’s AI claims are smoke in less than 7 questions. Most companies fail at Q1, “What are you using your AI for?” When Salesforce let me sit in on its Agentforce 2.0 launch, it made sense to ask all 7 questions. I’m shocked. The AI agency market is crashing right in front of us. In the past 20 days, I started working on 7 websites for AI agencies... Listen up. You need to know what’s happening right now. A few months ago, the competition was small, and everyone had time to move slowly. But now everything has changed. Andrew Tate’s courses alone brought 3,000 new agencies into the market this month. Do you know what this means? You don’t just have more competitors. They’re destroying the market with low-quality services. Other great agencies hear more and more from their target audience: “We’ve already had a bad experience with an agency like yours.” The days of slow progress are over. Guys, understand that people buy from you only if you can build trust. But how can you do this if your business isn’t optimized for sales? Maybe you’re selling great solutions, studying 5 hours a day, but your visitors will never know about it. Your landing page is set up incorrectly, and the design doesn’t show that you’re a professional. Do you trust companies with terrible packaging? You can keep selling the same solutions as everyone else, using cheap designs, and hoping your clients won’t notice. But the truth is, no one will trust your agency if your branding, website, and first impression look bad. And you know this. Have you forgotten that you’re selling to AI early adopters? That’s about 11% of businesses. Many of them have already implemented AI solutions... You can keep moving at a snail’s pace and ignore the market. But here’s the truth: every day, your chances of finding a client decrease. It’s time to unite and stand out like gold in the dirt. I always introduce all my partners to each other. unpopular opinion: AI SDRs Are a Huge Grift Back when I first started thinking about Captiwate, one question kept popping up in conversations I was having with potential clients and investors: will we, or more precisely, how will we be incorporating AI into the tool? Generative AI after all lends itself to automating tedious sales work. When a sales person is not on the phone, they’re either writing emails or researching prospects. If Gen AI can help with those tasks, then you have a billion-dollar business because you’ve successfully replaced skilled labor with automation - so goes the thinking. And indeed there are successful examples: Clay is a fantastic tool for sales prospecting while Copy.ai pivoted from a simple copywriting tool into a specific GTM suite. But now there is a new wave of companies explicitly aiming to replace SDRs with AI:? 11x.ai, LeadSend.ai, Artisan.co, or the YC-backed AISDR have all made waves recently. Even well-established players like Qualified.com are pivoting hard into the AI SDR space. The offer seems simple: why pay $5,000 a month for an SDR when you can just pay a fraction of that for a piece of software to do the same job? Well, investors are less enthusiastic now than they were a year ago. Wherever AI was implemented, it was found wanting after the initial hype wore off in about six months. As Techcrunch wrote, quoting Arjun Pillai, founder of AI startup Docket: “While these companies are experiencing rapid revenue growth, it’s unclear if they’re actually helping businesses sell more effectively. “The question is how many companies have been paying for more than six months?” And that’s really the crux of the matter. Sure, AI is good enough at imitating a salesperson, but when deployed as an AI SDR for say, an outreach campaign, the best it can do is spam your prospect list faster. Kyle Coleman, CMO of Copy.ai said the same thing the other week: “The receipts are starting to come in from AI SDRs. They are not pretty. I talked to 4 CROs / VP Sales this week and they all said a different version of the same thing. They saw a little blip of success the first week or two after a deployment. And absolute crickets after. ?? They picked the low hanging fruit, and burned down the orchard.” If you search for experiences with AI SDRs on Reddit, you’ll find similar resentment from customers who were let down by these companies. The trick is, of course, is that these solutions might be promising in the early stages, even yielding results, but they tap out quickly. Hence these companies can ramp up new customers early, only to be bitten by churn 3-6 months down the line. This isn’t to say that there’s no place for AI in sales - but the wholesale replacement of SDRs or BDRs is an overblown promise, or worse, a grift. This post makes an excellent point: Generative AI excels in specific areas—primarily written content. Right now, AI shines in tasks like email copy, prospecting templates, and certain creative processes. But to suggest it can fully replace the human element in complex functions like sales outreach is an overreach. Fully autonomous AI models are still a long way off. We're not at the stage where large language models (LLMs) can operate independently with the consistency and nuance that human sales teams bring. That’s why we chose not to position 10xBeast as an AI-powered SDR. Maybe it's because I've been an SDR/BDR, I know the role like the back of my hand. We’ve seen the limitations first-hand. LLMs are powerful tools when applied to specific, well-defined tasks, but the key is knowing their boundaries—understanding what they excel at and what they can’t handle. Take cold calling as an example. AI isn’t ready to replace an SDR or BDR in holding conversations. It can’t interpret subtle cues, adapt on the fly, or navigate complex discussions the way a human can. Will it someday? – Yes But today? Nope Automating written outreach is one thing; expecting AI to replace the nuanced role of a sales rep is, at best, overly optimistic—and, at worst, misleading. And for those of us in SaaS, it’s important to remember: SaaS is a long game. It doesn’t matter how many new users you acquire if you have a leaky bucket. Retention and consistent results are what drive growth. Initial traction from AI might feel exciting, but if it can’t sustain long-term results, you're just cycling through customers who don’t stick around. In the end, sustainable growth comes from reliable, repeatable performance—not flashy quick wins.

Remember when we Googled things instead of having full-blown conversations with chatbots? ?? Good times. In the next three years (or less), ???????????????????????????? ???????????? will be how people find information online. I know, I know… I keep posting about AI and how things are changing. Just can’t help it. I’m learning something new daily. Applying it to my own workflows. And my mind? ????????????????. Two minutes ago, I walked into Gerardo Ospina (our PPC director) office. What do I see? ?? Open ChatGPT interface. ?? Him organizing keywords. Of course, we start debating: ? What are the real possibilities of AI chatbots? ? When will Google actually lose market share? ? Is it already happening? To answer this, we need to rethink how we measure search. Traditionally, SEO relies on ?????????????? ???????????? ??????????????—how often a term is searched monthly. But in conversational search, it’s not about single queries. It’s about: ?? Follow-up questions. ?? Expanding ideas. ?? Historic references. Instead of tracking ?????????????? ???????????? ??????????????, we’ll likely shift to ?????????????? ???????????? ??????????????—measuring entire conversation patterns, rather than single terms. The challenge? The data isn’t clear yet, especially for local businesses. Yes, we’re already seeing AI chatbots drive leads. Yes, early signals are there. But what does the bigger picture look like?
