Heading to Athens, back to school I, I, I mean, I, I feel great I'm I'm on campus already as we head to. Joining us from. Red. Time. Visiting everyone on campus, so as we say hello to you, tell us what's happening as we get ready for the first game. Yeah, thank you for having me, Paul. You know, Georgia just wrapped up its second scrimmage of the fall this past weekend. You know, with Carson back coming back. You know, it's good to have that kind of continuity under center after last year where, you know, there were all those questions about who could, you know, come in and replace Bennett and whether or not Carson Beck was the guy. They're lucky to have that question answered because, you know, a lot of uncertainty at receiver now with the dismissal of our raw Thomas 3 transfer guys coming in who carry Smart said today that he feels pretty good about where all three of those guys are at. But. Yeah. Just continuing to get ready for the season. You know, that learning period is kind of starting to take shape for the younger guys and yeah. We've had some concern from callers now, not people like you who do this professionally about is there enough on the defensive line, is there enough here, couple of a couple. You mentioned the suspension you mentioned. I mean there's always attrition, there's always confusion. Well, how would you assess the defensive side of the ball? You know, yeah, I think the defensive line, obviously, there's not a guy like you don't have a Jordan Davis or a Jalen Carter in the middle there where it's someone who can just put him out there and count on them to just, you know, go wreck the game. But Nazir Stackhouse and Warren Brinson, you know, those are two veterans in the SEC who know how to play SEC ball. And then you have the transfer from South Carolina, Xavier McLeod, who could, you know, emerge as a real playmaker on the interior. Think what I'm most excited to see from the defense personally is how well Michael Williams does it. Outside linebacker, you know, they're gonna let him stand up a little bit as a pass rusher. He won't have his hand in there every play. And, you know, just the athletic force that might kill Williams is I think we could be in for a really special season there to really young linebacker room. But CJ Allen showed a lot last year after being pressed into playing time early. They like Raylan Wilson a lot. Small mundane is a guy who's, you know, proving that he can do it year in and year out. So, yeah, you know, not as many. I think you're not going to see one of those Georgia defenses from a couple years ago where it's, you know, 15 NFL draft picks or whatever. But I do think this is one of the better units in the SEC and one of the better units in the country. We're just a couple of days away from Clemson, which in the past has been the biggest game of the year in college football. It was three years ago. It's not even on the board as one of the best games for the dogs. What's the view? And I'm not so much coach speak, but just from your friends, students, colleagues about. This game is is and the level of concern. Yeah, it's it's interesting because you know, at my first game as a student at UGA was against Clemson in 2021. And you know, that was 3 verse five, I believe. And, you know, that was a huge game. That was, I remember getting the college and hearing people talking about that constantly. And yeah, you're right. It hasn't really felt like that this year. I guess Clemson, you know, has, you know, declined a little bit as a program since 2021 and Georgia, you know, since then has become. Just this juggernaut powerhouse. Umm. So yeah, I would say around campus, the buzz is probably not as great as you would expect from a, you know, Georgia, Clemson game. That's kind of, you know, a de facto rivalry. I know it's not a conference rivalry, but yeah, you know, the anticipation, while it's still there, it's always going to be there. This is Athens, GA. This is a big football town. It probably hasn't been, you know, what you would expect from a a ranked clash in Week 1. So the schedule. Much, much discussed by now just as a as a young student looking at it. I mean, there there are just some massive Rd. games we're talking about at Alabama, at Texas and that Ole Miss. I mean the numbers by the school speaks for themselves. In terms of what you're hearing from the team and everyone else. So how do you wrap your arms around that schedule? Yeah, it's a it's a tough schedule, man. Going to Alabama is never fun. You know they're going to have to go on the road in Texas, which that's a crazy environment. Ole Miss, same thing. It's gonna it's gonna test the kind of football team that this team is. And I think it's something that kind of really benefit them down the stretch. When we're talking about, you know, December, January, when you get in the playoff and you know, you're playing, you're traveling for those games and you're playing neutral games. This is going to be, you know, assuming that Georgia is in that conversation by the end of the season, this is going to be one of the most battle tested teams in the country. You can't really ask for a more brutal Rd. schedule than this. So finally, so many people have fans, not legitimate reporters like you. I've tried to make a big deal out about the office season off the field issues. Kirby smarts addressed it. He doesn't look very excited about saying any more than he has to. But how do how do you view that in relation to is this a problem or are these just young people like you who? Make silly mistakes and sometimes fatal mistakes. Yeah, You know, it's always tough to talk about a situation like that because there's so much, I think there's so many conversations, you know, happening behind the scenes that none of us know about or, you know, have anything to, you know, do with. So, you know, all we can really do is just look at, you know, what's being done about these incidents by the program and by the team and just, you know, form our own opinions of it. Go from there. Umm, it's not something that is happening at any other program. To the extent that it happens here, so we can't, you know, just deny that there's a problem. There definitely is something going on, but. Yeah, all you can really do I guess is. Just continue to hope that you know the. When things like that happen, the right punishment is handed down and it's handled correctly within the program. But it's, I guess it's not really something that any of us or you know, anyone within the media, I guess can really talk about that much. Because like you said, I mean, Kirby Smart is very, he doesn't really give a lot of answers when asked about that stuff. And you know, we really just don't have that much to go off of. Well, before you go, you, you, you, you're. You're right for one of the more respected student newspapers, you. That school there is regarded as one of the best all over the country. What's what's next for you? Umm, I don't know, hoping to, you know, do do the best job I can this semester is sports editor hoping to provide the best coverage that I can for, you know, this community of students and, you know, fans that we have here in Athens. And then, you know, once I graduated, once I graduated, I should say, I guess I just I've got to see what's out there. Anything that I can do getting paid to cover sports, talk about sports. I'll do it. So we'll we'll see what the future holds with that.
