It was a pleasure to represent CLEPA - European Association of Automotive Suppliers last week at the 76th session of the UN Working Party on Passive Safety (UN GRSP). ? A CLEPA proposal amending UN Regulation No. 17 was adopted. This proposal aims to improve the whiplash behaviour of occupants of smaller stature. This is a first concrete achievement of the ongoing work in GRSP to provide equitable and enhanced protection of a diverse population. ?? A major step forward was achieved in electric vehicle safety with the adoption of an amendment of UN Regulation No. 100 introducing robust procedures to assess thermal propagation performances that enable harmonized implementation. ?????? GRSP discussed the status of the screening of the non-ADS regulations to make them ready to approve automated vehicles by 2026. Interesting exchanges took place on how to ensure that the basic safety requirements of these vehicles are fulfilled in case they are out of scope of current regulations because they do not carry occupants. As in an industry oversight, the height safety industry is “unregulated”. Allowing manufacturers, installers & resellers to go “unchecked” With no governing body taking ownership or responsibility of manufacturers, installers, resellers product compliance. This is simply because the refrenced related standards in the falls code are not marked part of legislation. This has continued to contribute to all the seroius injuries & fatalities related to falls from heights. 2024 needs better legislation, compliance checks, regulation in the intrest of public safety. For easy reference here are the refrenced standards with no legislative law. Making the height safety industry unregulated. NEWS... After 11 years of service, the Original Equipment Suppliers Aftermarket Association will cease operations at the end of 2024. OESAA launched in 2013 to highlight disparities in the quality of replacement parts and evolved to support indpendent workshop owners and technicians with training initiatives. The body curated the series of AutoInform events, hosting several weekend events at the GTG training centres in Wolverhampton and Glasgow, providing insights on best practice, diagnostics and new technology. OESAA Chairman, Nigel Morgan, who spearheaded the creation of the organisation, says: “We are immensely proud of the part OESAA played in elevating the standards of the industry, raising awareness about the benefits of OE-quality parts, and strengthening trust between suppliers, distributors and technicians. “While OESAA will close, my hope is that our members will continue to independently advocate for premium solutions, support their customers and work in partnership with the next generation of automotive stars to ensure the aftermarket has a prosperous future. https://lnkd.in/e4HJMncz

Last week, I was attending another fruitful #GRSP meeting in the United Nations in Geneva. Several important regulatory proposals were adopted to which CLEPA - European Association of Automotive Suppliers has actively contributed: ? A proposal for a new UN Regulation on Safety-Belt Reminders. ? A proposal for a new UN Regulation on the Installation of safety belts, restraint systems, child restraint systems, ISOFIX child restraint systems and i-Size child restraint systems. ? A proposal for the 10 series of Amendments to UN Regulation 16 which will from now include only requirements for components type-approval. ?? This is the result of splitting UN Regulation 16 into 3 UN Regulations separating components, installation and SBR requirements. ? An amendment proposal to extend the scope of the?UN Regulation 100 to vehicles of O categories with batteries which are charged by the vehicle’s e-axles. This is an important step forward to approve technical solutions developed by the suppliers to reduce CO2 emissions (e.g. battery systems supplying cooling units on trailers). ?? The Terms of Reference for the Informal Working Group regarding the safety of Children Left in Vehicles (IWG CLIV) were endorsed. ?? The ECE Road Safety Action Plan 2023-2030 that will contribute to achieving the global road safety target of a 50 percent reduction in road death and injuries was thoroughly discussed. GRSP had interesting exchanges with respect to the prospects for a #GTR on #CRS. Dinos Visvikis, Thomas Herpich, Ines Levallois, Thierry Mousel, Erik Salters, Marianne Le Claire, Kate Brown

?? Expert Class ADR 2024 in Valenciennes! For the second time, the Expert Class ADR took place in France, at the National School ENTE in Valenciennes. ADR experts from various European countries gathered for this event, organized by the ECR EGTC Harmonie Sub Working Group for dangerous goods transport. Key Highlights: ?? Main Topic: This year’s focus was on exemptions in the ADR regulations, a subject that often sparks confusion and diverse interpretations. ??Interactive Learning: Participants engaged in a multiple-choice test and solved practical cases. The class was divided into working groups, leading to intense discussions that highlighted the complexities of ADR regulations. ???? ??Future Insights: We also got a sneak peek into the future with a discussion on the Amendments of ADR 2025. Exciting changes are on the horizon! ?? Like always, the program was intense yet deeply satisfying for all participants. This event is a living proof that while ADR regulations can be challenging, collaboration and expert discussions pave the way for better understanding. #ADR2024 #ExpertClass #DangerousGoods #Valenciennes #TransportRegulations #ECRHarmonie #ADRExemptions #FutureOfADR #LearningTogether #ECR #ECREGTC
