What’s a dream goal you have? An experience you really want to have? I have a desire to speak in front of 10,000 people. Last week’s speaking experience - kicking off the Amplify conference for Amplēo - felt so good. It was a far cry from 10,000 people, but it proved to me that I want that. On stage, talking to that audience of committed executives and leaders about the importance of management, I felt like I fit. I belonged there. It oddly felt comfortable. I loved the experience of speaking (and I loved it a lot more than the prep work!). I loved sharing my very personal story, I loved inspiring people to be the manager they want to be, and I loved sharing our work to guide them and their teams. The irony is … in grade school, every time I had to speak in front of a crowd, it did not go well. All I would do is start laughing! It was uncanny - whether it was an all school assembly, or reciting my one line contribution to our class play, I would just uncontrollably laugh.??? Oh how far we can come:) Now I want to continue to speak publicly and share my story and the Elevate Leadership message. What’s one hard thing you want to accomplish or experience in your life? Following the launch of our Empowering Our Youth research in 2023 and the recent Empowering Our Youth Part II research which aimed to amplify the voices of those in secondary schools, EPIT, in partnership with CATE and CDANZ, is hosting a wide-range of cross-sector partners in this drop-in 'So What' workshop. The aim of this workshop is to gather the voices of those with related kaupapa from across the ecosystem to make sense of careers leadership from a wide lens and ideate about the next steps, with a focus on action During this drop-in workshop, you will be providing your thoughts and input on: 1. ?????????????? ???????????????????????????? - shift from 'career guidance' to 'career education'. 2. ?????? ???????????????? ?????? ?????????????????????? ???? ?????????????????? - recognition that career education has its own knowledge base. 3. ?????????????????? ?????????????? ??????/???? ?????????????????? ?????????????? ?????????? - Are qualified careers educators/staff as valued as qualified teachers? 4. ?????? ???? ?????? ?????????? ??????????, ?????????????? ?????????????? ???? ???????????? ??????????????? This session will be offered in-person AND online simultaneously. It is a drop-in style workshop to provide flexibility for you to commit as much or as little time between 9.30am and 3.30pm. There is no requirement for you to be at the session all day. The in-person venue is Te Whiriwhiringa The Nest, our wonderful office in Onehunga. The online option will be hosted on Zoom, and a link will be sent out closer to the event. Please purchase the appropriate ticket so we know whether you will be joining us in-person or online.
