Data Centre Cost Index ($US / watt). Sydney costs $9.50 / watt to build a data centre. This is only one side of the equation as the benefits of building in different locations would vary (such as the legal system), although perhaps not much for data centres compared with factories. Given the relatively low price for data centres in Sydney (and presumably other Australian cities) will Australia see growth in data centre builds? Can Australia supply the electricity needed (reliably and quality of electricity) to power these data centres?
