Today, people already use LLMs and AI chatbots to inquire about their symptoms and seek preliminary medical advice. These AI systems can provide more detailed and structured information compared to quick consultations with physicians, who might resort to trial-and-error methods.? U?an highlighted that chatbots can offer step-by-step guidance, suggesting specific tests and scans based on reported symptoms and can listen more attentively than a physician in a time-limited consultation. In the near future, he envisions chatbots managing initial patient interactions in hospitals and appointment systems, effectively handling tasks such as triage and providing medical advice. This would free up healthcare professionals to focus on more critical aspects of patient care. Despite current limitations like providing inaccurate information, he is optimistic that specialized LLMs designed exclusively for medical purposes will mitigate these issues. These tailored models will have strict guidelines and boundaries, ensuring they deliver reliable and contextually appropriate information. While acknowledging potential risks, U?an highlighted that medical chatbots will not diagnose or prescribe medications. Instead, they will provide quick access to medical information and suggest consulting a healthcare professional for a definitive diagnosis. In conclusion, U?an foresees a future where LLMs and chatbots play a significant role in healthcare, improving accessibility and providing detailed, reliable medical information, ultimately enhancing the efficiency and quality of patient care.
