In just the last year, the Redwood Empire Food Bank has served an average of 61,000 people a month, more than 4,000 people more a month than they did last year. One of the sadder components of that statistic is that, among those 61,000 people, there are an average of 840 new families a month. In 2023, 8.8 million Californians experienced food insecurity. This means that nearly 1 in every 4 individuals are unsure where their next meal will come from. Every year, lawyers across the state come together to try to provide critical funds to local food banks. So please join us in donating to your local food bank. If you don't have one, please consider donating to our firm's local food bank. Contra Costa County often receives far less resources than San Francisco and Alameda. Gatekeepers in media are always looking for ways to attack our #cities and #counties as this piece illustrates. Some key lessons: (1) The person who reported these well intentioned people was not identified or interviewed; (2) The City was given zero airtime to share their side of the story (which is in essence- we have an obligation to follow up when a citizen files a complaint; how the city would love to find a solution and help enhance this fundraiser; etc etc) (3) Most importantly- note that AP is using vertical (9:16) video - to create a social media story with deeper reach and more engagement versus just a standard pull from their newsfeed. This is yet another example of why Canva posts about various happenings and updates on meetings are simply not enough in a dynamic and fast changing media environment. The lesson: strong, strategic social media can combat misinformation from those seeking to make you the bad guy who shut down a little kid and his ice cream stand.

The importance of this type of initiative was further demonstrated today when the Food Banks Canada released their Hungercount (2024https://lnkd.in/gzqYujhp) report. In Canada, there are now over 2 Million visits to food banks/month. A shocking number and double the number of visits that were happening monthly only 5 years ago. Also many shelters are reporting running out of food. While contributing money to this cause is not the long term solution, it will help to bridge the gap to the time when sustainable solutions are put in place.

Our economy was less mature then and many businesses just hadn't been educated around being ???????????????of taking up a cause. There are some ?????????????? ?????????????????? out there... Logos that stand out ("?? ?? ????" springs to mind) and newer charities that bring awareness to problems I/we didn’t even know existed... ...and even charities that come with ????????????????????! So why ?????? ?????????? ???????????? - for 2024? → They get ?????????????? ?????????????? ???? ?????? ?????????? with (over the last 5 years) ????%?making it into the community programs. This gives me ?????????? ???? ????????. → In a time when ?????? ???????????wants to do everything for us, it seems ???????????????????to aim to get money back into the system from the "???????????? ????." Small business operators will understand this. And it was ?????????? ???????????????? ???????????????that led ???? ?????????????????? ???????????????? people to create the charity. → ?????????? ??????????????????, a keystone for young individuals—and ?????????????????? ???? ???????? ?????????? ???? ???????? can make one of the ?????????????? ??????????????—and in turn, I am guessing one of the ?????????????? ???????????? ?????????????? ???????? ?????? ????????????. → Oh, and it was the ??????????-???????? ???????????????????? ????????/hours that I ever did (from memory).
