I think the last 35 years teaches a clear lesson, those entities that are focused on transactions, especially real estate transactions and even more so LIHTC deals more often then not find themselves principally relating to the entities that drive transactions and not principally those who are or would be members of the community. Especially true in those truth to power moments that poorer communities face.

Community development organizations have narrowly created opportunities for professionals rather than advocating for real change. Here is a classic article. I worked in LIHTC for over 20 years. It’s inefficient and employs more lawyers and accountants than it builds housing.
