Pleased to have participated in the Southern Region Microbiology Mentorship Program workshop by Zambia Ministry of Health (MOH) and UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) that covered a wide range of critical subjects, a few of which include: > Respiratory Tract Infections > Emerging and reemerging infections- (Mpox and Mburg) > A practical approach to Risk Assessment > Leadership and Management This effort was part of the International Health Regulations Project by UKHSA that aims to improve global health security by increasing compliance with the World Health Organisation International Health Regulations, strengthening leadership, building technical capabilities and developing sustainable public health systems This workshop was comprehensive, enriching and insightful experience, that enhanced my understanding of these complex conditions and offered valuable insights into diagnostics, quality management as well as the importance of effective leadership and proactive risk management. The exploration of emerging and re-emerging infectious diseases underscored the dynamic nature of microbiology, the importance of global surveillance, and the need for proactive measures in diagnosis to prevent and manage outbreaks. In the words of Dr Jumoke, "Self-development is something that cannot be taken from you" #Inspired #OneHealth #EmergencyPreparednessAndResponse #Micriobiologist

MSH commends global leaders for committing to decisive steps to reduce human deaths associated with bacterial #antimicrobialresistance (#AMR) by 10% annually by 2030—part of a sweeping political declaration approved last week at the United Nations General Assembly High-Level Meeting on #AMR. And we applaud the declaration’s emphasis on a multisectoral #OneHealth approach, which encourages collaboration across key sectors, including agriculture, environment, finance, manufacturing, research and education, to develop a comprehensive response to the AMR crisis. Achieving the declaration’s ambitious targets for 2030—such as meeting 90% of the World Health Organization’s minimum requirements for infection prevention and control programs and guaranteeing that all health facilities have access to basic water, sanitation, hygiene, and waste management services—will require: ? Strong #politicalleadership at the global, national, and local levels ? #SustainedInvestment from donors and governments to enhance national capacities for AMR prevention and response in low- and middle-income countries ? Government #ownership to lead the development of National Action Plans tailored to their specific contexts MSH remains committed to advancing #healthequity and sustainable, locally led solutions, viewing #healthsystemsstrengthening as essential for containing AMR and linking it to initiatives like #universalhealthcoverage, patient safety, and #pandemicpreparedness to foster a healthier, more resilient future for all. https://lnkd.in/eaDwA3Be Francis Aboagye-Nyame Mohan P. I Did a Thing?? During AMR Awareness Week, I created this content, but the hustle and bustle of pharmacy school left me with no time to edit or post it. After the week passed, I considered giving up and deleting the videos. However, I realized that even during AMR Awareness Week, many people remained unaware of the critical facts about antimicrobial resistance. So, I decided to compile the videos and share them anyway. Here’s everything you need to know about AMR—whether you’re an individual, a health advocate, or a medical professional. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is a major health crisis in Nigeria, driven by antibiotic misuse, weak regulations, and low public awareness. Self-medication and over-the-counter antibiotic sales worsen the issue. While efforts are underway to combat AMR through campaigns and regulations, tackling it requires collective action. The Nigerian government and health organizations are working to combat AMR through awareness campaigns, improved regulations, and surveillance systems. However, everyone has a role to play. Learn how you can help prevent AMR and spread awareness by watching the video below. Together, we can protect our future health! #AMRawareness #Pharmaincubationhub #PIH #PublicHealthcontent #PublicSpeaking

A meeting with the UK health Security Agency on #antimicrobial resistance (AMR) development from #cystitis treatments ? Colleagues ? Some good news: I had a meeting with the #UKHSA this week to present my root cause analysis on #AMR. I was met by insightful experts in microbiology and infectious diseases, who agreed entirely with the analysis, and understand that AMR is a risk with every single #cystitis treatment using oral antibiotics notwithstanding best antimicrobial stewardship. This is a critical prerequisite for engineering and promoting clinical management changes rather than allowing the status quo of pushing #antibiotic pills for cystitis that could drive us further into the depths of despair about AMR. They recognize that cystitis is a unique clinical entity and that change is essential. I believe the associated essential issue is whether the 3 agencies, notably the MHRA, NICE and #UKHSA can sensibly collaborate to engineer the necessary changes and enable scale up within the NHS. Crisis management should focus their minds about collaboration. As the UK has elected to take a lead globally on AMR, I would like to believe the next government will push that agenda hard. Time is pressing. ? I also learned of the initiatives being undertaken by the Agency and firmly recommend to you looking up the its website to see all the various projects and publications on the subject such as the ESPAUR Report, the 2024-2029 National Action Plan on tackling #AMR and the AMRiC (AMR in the Community) study. ? All of us must cooperate to bring about the necessary changes, but after my meeting with the UKHSA, I feel we should be able to bring them about. Wishing us all good fortune with our efforts.

Patient Safety Principles for Healthcare Workers: Insights & Best Practices in KSA Patient safety is a cornerstone of quality healthcare. In Saudi Arabia, recent innovations emphasize proactive risk management, transparent reporting systems, and fostering a culture of continuous learning. Healthcare workers play a vital role by adhering to patient safety principles that prioritize accurate documentation, vigilant infection control, and patient-centered communication. Best practices include implementing global standards, such as the WHO’s Global Patient Safety Action Plan, and adopting digital tools like Electronic Health Records (EHRs) to enhance care coordination and reduce errors. Saudi healthcare leaders are aligning with international standards, establishing strong safety protocols that minimize risks and promote accountability. By reinforcing these practices, KSA aims to elevate patient trust and healthcare outcomes on a global scale. #PatientSafety #HealthcareQuality #PatientCenteredCare #SaudiHealthcare #MedicalInnovation #KSAHealth #HealthcareWorkers #RiskManagement #PatientSafetyCulture #DigitalHealth #NEOM #JHAH #KSAjobs
