*Sharing My Experience During Onboarding Week at TRATON* From September 9-13, I had the incredible opportunity to dive deep into the TRATON GROUP strategy and future goals. The onboarding week was an enriching blend of stimulating brainstorming activities, engaging games, and invaluable learning experiences. Highlights from the Week: Executive Exchange: This session was a deep dive into the leadership strategies and perspectives from various levels within the organization offering a nuanced understanding of executive thinking and decision-making processes. Self-Leader: If I had to summarize this session in three words, they would be: humble, hardworking, and resilient.Also Focusing on the three pillars of human motivation: autonomy, belonging, and competence. High Performing Teams: We examined the different stages of group development strategies, their implementation, and various perspectives on each stage.This session was instrumental in understanding how to build and maintain high-performing teams. Additionally, the presentations from all the cross-brand: MAN Truck & Bus SE , Scania Group , Volkswagen do Brasil , and Navistar Inc — provided a wealth of information and insights into our diverse portfolio. It was also fantastic to connect with global trainees from different cross-brands, building a robust network while gaining a broader perspective on diversity and inclusion. The week concluded with a heartfelt and motivating farewell, leaving me inspired and excited for the journey ahead. ?? A New Beginning at Special Cargo Services! ?? After years of thinking rationally, and now through self-reflection and daring to really listen to my heart, I am thrilled to announce that I have accepted the role of Business Unit Manager Rotterdam at Special Cargo Services. This choice feels like being 14 again and falling in love for the first time: butterflies in my stomach, dancing on pink clouds, full of enthusiasm and new energy! Looking back, I realize how my free-spirited nature has brought me to incredible heights. But, like everything in life, there are also downsides. A balance I may have longed for years, but forgot that everything begins within yourself. A tip for Christmas: buy a mirror, take a good look at yourself. Recently, I have looked deep within myself and asked: what drives me, what is my passion, what gives me energy, what do I want to receive in return, and how do I want to inspire others? The answer is clear: I want to give back what I have learned, experienced, and lived through all these years. The hits, the hurdles, the smack in your face, smiles, the successes – I want to share them and grow together with others, but also receive the same in return. Together we are strong! At Special Cargo Services, people have a voice, appreciation is shown, and we always work in a sincere and clear manner. Setting clear expectations is crucial, so everyone knows where they stand. Daring to look and share from the heart, without crafting or improving like a Rembrandt with words, because we are not artists – we are who we are, and that makes us strong together! Passion, unity, and working from the heart enable us to overcome everything, achieving unprecedented heights, successes, and victories. As a true RotterdammerT would say: stronger through struggle. Collaboration and trust are key to success, I want to embrace these values in my new role. It’s about building something great together, not individually. We are getting ready to head to Orlando next week for the NATA- National Air Transportation Association last training seminar for 2024! One of our topics is culture. We hear the word so often these days to describe what is more of less your company's personality. More often than not it's a buzzword that gets lip service more than it is an actual goal that leaders work towards. I can say this with 100% conviction because in my day job we talk to more than a thousand FBO employees a year, dozens and dozens per day. We visit new FBOs each and every week, we see and hear a LOT. I promise you, we as an industry have a lot of work to do! But here’s the good news: when you get culture right, it has the single biggest ROI of anything you can undertake as a leader. A strong, positive culture transforms your workplace into somewhere people love to work—and that has ripple effects far beyond the back office. ??When Upgrades Don’t Go as Planned… At Tagg-N-Go Car Wash, we pride ourselves on keeping operations running as smoothly as possible, even during major upgrades. But sometimes, things don’t go according to plan. Recently, at one of our locations we acquired earlier this year we undertook a big project to improve operations. We planned for just two days of downtime, but unexpected issues turned it into a much longer closure. Equipment challenges and unforeseen root causes delayed our reopening. Customers, understandably frustrated, voiced their concerns, and we realized how much trust is on the line when we make these improvements. This experience has been a tough but valuable reminder: 1??Transparency matters—communicating openly with customers can go a long way during closures. 2??Preparation is key and sometimes, even the best plans hit unforeseen obstacles. 3??Every challenge is a learning opportunity and we’re committed to doing better next time. Growth isn’t always smooth, but it’s necessary. I’m grateful for our team’s persistence and dedication in tackling these challenges head-on. ? YEAR-END COMPANY GATHERING ? Each year end, we always make it a point to have a company gathering with the objective of gathering everyone from each department to mingle and bond together. We would plan for a town hall meeting to keep ourselves aligned and be on the same page with the company's vision. This year, we did something different. Kudos to the planning team; we break away from the usual tradition, and we went to SAFRA Choa Chu Kang. From being reserved for some to everyone enjoying themselves, it was truly the best way to end the year with joy and laughter and to start the year with positive energy. It was heartwarming to see many of us coming out of our comfort zone—some of us were shy to sing karaoke in front of a larger crowd, but we truly enjoyed ourselves. We also held an awards ceremony to reward and recognise colleagues who excelled in their work as well as colleagues who have been dedicated to the company for the last 5 and 10 years. We appreciate everyone in our midst, and we know we could not have come this far if not for each other. As the day came to a close, we wrapped up the day with the sumptuous buffet spread. Many thanks to everyone for making this company gathering a success!
