Today, I had the pleasure of attending an enlightening session on healthcare planning organized by BS COSMO. The session was led by Avedis Mouradian , the co-founder and managing director of H2M for Health Consultancies. Avedis provided a detailed overview of the UAE healthcare industry, including healthcare services, facilities, and management systems, shedding light on the regulations and guidelines that govern the sector. His expertise not only showcased the strengths of the UAE’s system but also offered valuable comparisons with the current state of Armenian hospitals. This session was a remarkable opportunity to explore potential areas of improvement in Armenia, from healthcare facility development to system management, drawing inspiration from international best practices.

Healthcare in the Middle East has experienced significant growth and transformation in recent years, driven by rapid urbanisation, increasing population, and economic development. The region’s healthcare spending is expected to reach US$144 billion by 2025, fuelled by government investments and private sector growth. Within the region, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is one of the leading countries investing in healthcare infrastructure development, with the UAE's healthcare spending projected to hit US$18.3 billion by 2027 driven by an expanding population and medical tourism . The Middle East also faces unique health challenges, including high rates of non-communicable diseases (NCDs). To address these challenges, Middle Eastern countries are increasingly investing in digital health solutions, including telemedicine and AI-driven diagnostics, aiming to improve healthcare accessibility and outcomes. This digital shift is seen as crucial in tackling the region's healthcare needs efficiently and enhance healthcare accessibility and quality across the region. What I Learned After Attending the IFCC WorldLab 2024 Conference in Dubai, UAE Ever been to an international healthcare conference where every conversation feels like a step towards a healthier future? What do you get when you gather the brightest minds in healthcare under one roof? IFCC WorldLab 2024 showed me the blueprint for the future of global health. Now that some time has passed, I've had a chance to truly appreciate the lasting significance of my experience attending the event which was held at the iconic Dubai World Trade Centre from May 26?? to 30??. It left me pondering with many questions, ideas and insights. What resonated the most wasn’t just the ground-breaking healthcare technologies on display but also the overarching message: can we truly build a healthcare ecosystem where no one is left behind and where laboratories aren’t isolated entities but nodes in a global network? IFCC WorldLab 2024, with its vibrant setting in Dubai, answered that question with an unequivocal "yes." At its heart, the conference wasn’t merely about presentations and exhibits—it was a statement. A declaration that healthcare no longer has borders, that innovation knows no geographical limitations and that collaboration is the only way forward. The breakthroughs shared, the connections made, the conversations sparked… they weren’t just fleeting moments but the beginning of something far greater. Months may have passed, but the echoes of this event still reverberate. It exists as a powerful reminder that the future of healthcare is already being shaped today—by the collaborations, innovations and relentless pursuit of a healthier world for all. And I, for one, am excited to have been part of the journey.
