Congratulations to the 2024 finalists in Startup 4 Climate – Here are Sweden's 8 best climate innovations ? ??The voting in the Startup 4 Climate competition has received a fantastic response. Over 7000 people have voted for their favorite among the 63 competing companies. This year's finalists are now ready! Among the 8 contributions, we find everything from circulating showers and energy-efficient carbon dioxide capture to fossil-free graphite. The carbon dioxide calculator Climate Hero won "The People's Voice" and a place in the final. MANY THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WHO VOTED, we are now donating SEK 25,000 to L?kare Utan Gr?nser solar cell project in Sierra Leone. ?? The eight finalists will advance to the final round on November 14, where they will pitch their innovation to the jury. ? Today we’re putting the spotlight on Baukunst – Patrimonio Virtual ??? the Spanish startup using 3D digitization and Augmented Reality applications for heritage preservation. Being commissioned for several patrimony conservation work in Brazil, such as completing the High Resolution Digitalization of a historical building in Rio de Janeiro and reconstructing 31 sculptures destroyed by a fire using Digital Anastylosis ?? Reaching the semi-finals at University Startup World Cup 2024 organised by Venture Cup Denmark ?? We have a strong link with Ostend (think Bluebridge, Ostend Science Park, Marifish.Inc), but let’s not forget that our roots are in Ghent! We’re very proud of our hometown that has grown to become Flanders’ technology capital. It is the birthplace of the research center iMinds, as well as several leading start-ups such as Netlog, In The Pocket, Realo and Showpad. According to Dealroom.co, Ghent-based start-ups have already raised € 108 million across 17 funding rounds since January 1st, 2024, which accounts for 55% of the total € 197 million in capital raised in Flanders. In addition to capital, Ghent-based start-ups also attract new talent, which in turn leads to support services and entrepreneurs finding each other in close networks. All these effects reinforce each other, which is characteristic of the Ghent ecosystem. With the Wintercircus Ghent, Ghent's city administration is also showing that it has embraced its digital community. The city gave the iconic building on a long lease to TENT, a consortium of Ghent tech entrepreneurs.
