Excited to share our work published in Small on advancing eco-friendly Sb2Se3 solar cells. We replaced toxic CdS with a Cd-free SnOx electron transport layer (ETL), deposited via atomic layer deposition, and introduced a post-annealing treatment to optimize interface and absorber properties. This approach enhanced SnOx crystallinity, carrier density, and defect reduction, while improving Sb2Se3/SnOx heterojunction alignment and passivating bulk defects. The result: a record efficiency of 7.39% for Cd-free Sb2Se3 substrate solar cells, paving the way for sustainable, high-performance photovoltaic devices.
