We had the pleasure of hosting Sriram Rajamani, Corporate Vice President and Managing Director, Microsoft Research India, as part of our Founder Series. He spoke passionately about his 24+ years of Research experience in Microsoft, which began in the US and eventually led to him moving to India and being one of the early members of the Research Lab in India before he became the Lab Director in 2017. His vast experience ranges from working on productivity tools and programming languages to now being at the forefront of the AI revolution. He believes that proprietory data will be the USP and the models and platforms (agnostic of the creator) that utilise the data will continue to evolve and should be seen only as a medium. He also believes that falling in love with the problem and not the solution and having the willingness to pivot the solution will help a founder in their startup journey. I also believe that the founder and the culture he/she has set up in the startup should first be very passionate on the problem which they are solving because the problem will exist for longer time and solutions will surface-in periodically. This will test their zeal to wake up every morning with the same intensity as was the Day-1 of the startup. Investors should also try to understand how deep is the problem rather than how big is the problem. If the problem is an iceberg type and the founder has the vision to nail it, then that's the best bet for an investor. #LoveTheProblemYouAreSolving #startup
