The Cleantaxx concept has repeatedly defended its TüV Rheinland certification. This is not a certification of any machines or technologies, but an evaluation of the cleaning process, which consists of several methods that at the end of the process will bring the exhaust system to the same state and values as the new ATS system. Steve Springett is spot-on when he uses the word "exciting". TC54 will help to create the standards that will allow realistic implementation of the EU CRA or US Executive Order (EO) 14028 (issued in 2021!). Basically, we have got to the point in late 2024 where we have our millions of BOMx (or VEX, Attestations, etc)... and real problems with providing mechanisms for ensuring that the right artifacts out of these millions are available to those who need them. To illustrate, TEA will help you discover and download SBOM and VEX. With the VEX, you can see (using existing tooling) that there might be several vulnerabilities in your software... but only one of them requires remediation. CLE will then help you understand that the fix that is implemented in a patch update is only available when paying for commercial support. Or that EOL is in just a few days and consideration should be given to upgrading to a newer minor (or major) version that also delivers the needed fix. The above is just one example... there are so many more use cases. FYI: Keith Barnes
