?? Renault gives UK debut to Master E-Tech at CV Show ?? Renault gave a UK debut to its Master E-Tech at the Commercial Vehicle Show as the large van took pride of place alongside the medium-sized Trafic E-Tech and compact Kangoo E-Tech in an all-electric line up. The Master E-Tech, which Renault says will go on sale “before the summer”, will be offered with a 143hp electric motor and two batteries, at 40kWh and 87kWh.?Renault claims a 20% improvement in aerodynamic efficiency compared to the previous Master plus better battery regeneration allowed it to extend the van’s range and set a maximum payload of 1,625kg. Remember Nicole & Papa? If not, then step back to the 90s in the UK, when Renault Group was everywhere and the Clio was European Car of the Year. And then, everything changed. Renault admits it had a 'rough patch' in the early 2000s. Globalisation and competition hit the carmaker hard. Renault is smaller than its auto peers, and was impacted by record losses in 2020. But 2024 marks the dawn of the 'Renaulution', as Renault goes electric. The new Renault 5 was showcased at the Geneva Motor Show in February 2024, and now the Renault 4 compact SUV has been revealed at the Paris Motor Show. Renault is introducing more new models at affordable prices, thanks in part to its low-cost E-Tech transmission system. Everything about the brand has been revamped; it's shiny and new, and things look good on the surface. But whilst hybrid car sales are positive, Renault's EV sales are stagnating. According to sources, they need c.20% of sales to come from electric vehicles to comply with the EU's 2025 CO2 targets - they're currently at 12%. EV carmakers are finding it tough. Last Friday was the long-awaited unveil of Tesla's robotaxi cybercab, launching in 2026 with a low-cost pricetag. Market reaction? Tesla shares dropped 9%, wiping $60 billion off the market cap. Sigrid de Vries is the Director General of the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association (ACEA). When asked about the importance of lower costs for electric vehicles during an interview with Bloomberg, she responded: "It is essential, but it's just one piece of the puzzle. People need to be able to use these vehicles, they need to be able to charge electricity, at home, at work, along the road. They need cheap and green electricity to put into their vehicles. They need to change their mindset. This is a different way of using your mobility." There is also a potential risk of rising EV costs due to increased trade tariffs. #Electrification will take time, & there are plenty of obstacles on the road ahead. #Sustainability

Is it wrong that consider Renault as one the pioneers when it comes to electrification of cars? Besides the BMW i3 and the Nissan Leaf, we may certainly add the Renault Zoe to the list of first pioneers. Earlier we had the change to test drive Megane E-tech 100% Electric, which had good results. Now we are introduced to the SUV in the range: the Renault Scenic E-Tech 100% Electric. The all-electric Senic has a usable capacity of 87.0 kWh (92.0 kWh gross), an output of 160 kW (218 hp). This should suffice for an combined electric driving range of 603 km according to the WLTP (CoC) and even 784 km (WLTP-CoC) city driving. Interesting figures.
