?? World Humanitarian Day 2024 ?? As we mark World Humanitarian Day, we at Humanity Link stand in solidarity with humanitarian workers around the globe. These brave individuals risk their lives daily, navigating crises to deliver essential aid and support to the most vulnerable. Yet, 2023 was the deadliest year on record for them. 2024 could be even worse. Despite international laws designed to protect these workers and the civilians they serve, violations continue unchecked. The world must do better. This World Humanitarian Day, we join the global call to #ActForHumanity, demanding an end to these violations and the impunity that allows them to persist. Baphalali Eswatini Red Cross Society executes its humanitarian mandate through the use of seven (7) fundamental principles. Weekly every Wednesday which is themed, "Principle Wednesday", we will unpack each principle and its meaning. So today we start with, Principle 1: HUMANITY The international Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, born of a desire to bring assistance without discrimination to the wounded on the battlefield, endeavours, in its international and national capacity, to prevent and alleviate human suffering wherever it may be found. - Its purpose is to protect life and health and to ensure respect for the human being. - It promotes mutual understanding, friendship, cooperation and lasting peace amongst all peoples. #fundamentalprinciples #knowredcross #savinglives #humanityprinciple

This is a stark reminder that our world is failing not only those who dedicate their lives to helping others but also the people they strive to support. Today, we extend special recognition to our ChildFund Alliance partners, @ChildFundDeutschland and @WeWorld. Their unwavering commitment on the front lines ensures that children and communities in crisis receive essential support and protection. This #WorldHumanitarianDay, we stand united in demanding an end to the violence and impunity. Attacks on humanitarian workers and civilians must stop now. We need immediate action to protect civilians and humanitarians in conflict zones. Let's #ActForHumanity and push for a safer, more just world. ??

World Humanitarian Day campaign brings together the global humanitarian community to no other purpose than to save and protect lives and deliver the basic necessities of life, they stand shoulder to shoulder with the communities they serve and bring hope. No matter the danger or the hardship, humanitarians venture deep into disaster-stricken regions and on the front lines of conflict, strive to save and protect people in need. Core principles are humanity, impartiality, neutrality and independence that’s challenging work in difficult and dangerous environments, but they don't give up on their commitment to overcome the challenges and deliver life-saving assistance to people in need, hashtag #NoMatterWhat.

It’s fantastic to see that our researchers are involved in several of the nine new projects supported in the first round of the #OneKingsImpact Fund. The projects unite people from across and beyond King's College London to focus on real-world solution development to some of the deep-rooted global issues we face today. Success for Black Students in Engineering & Physics - Addressing unequal outcomes to support aspiring Black physics students ? Humanitarian needs are enormous, and it can be overwhelming when we see what is happening around the world. Yet the work of #humanitarian organisations, big and small, is proof that it is possible to make a difference ?? Governments and donors like ???? who give generously to #impartial humanitarian aid, and support global humanitarian action are imperative. ??We were recently privileged to take part in “DXB Today” on #DubaiOneTV, in an episode exploring how to get involved with humanitarian causes. Alongside Dubai Humanitarian ??, our friend and partner, as well as #ThiftForGood, a charity repurposing used clothing to contribute to sustainability ?? we talked about how small acts of #kindness can inspire, and that all kinds of initiatives and people, individual, public and private, are necessary to help humanity shine through! ?? ??
