?When you face challenges, whether you cultivate Self-Compassion or not, your challenges will remain? The difference is, Self-Compassion helps you feel supported during your suffering rather than fight the uphill battle of being against yourself, too. Through the last decade of dedicating time and space to mindfulness in my life, cultivating Self-Compassion has felt the hardest. My inner voice has always been that of the 'Angry Coach' - pushing, driving, unyielding, intolerant of mistakes. It's an internal voice I learned early in childhood, and it's a voice that makes all my challenges feel amplified. ??When I learned to develop a healthier relationship with myself — one where I could extend acceptance and kindness to myself — I found that while all of my challenges still occurred, I was able to face them with less resistance and suffering.
