Rohit Sharma, the Indian skipper defended the decision of playing Harshit Rana in a pink ball test on his debut tour with no prior experience of overseas conditions or the ball. The reason given to him was weird. Rohit said Harshit did nothing wrong in the Perth test to be dropped in the Adelaide test. He further went on to add that Harshit would have felt bad if he had been dropped after his debut test, where he bowled decently. Now my question is, why are we not selecting the best team based on the strengths of the player rather than the logic of keeping a person happy? Same with the corporates. We don't select the right man for the right job. Why do we have this culture where an individual is way above the team, whereas it is a team sport or a team performance that matters? Australians always go in as a team with people very clear about roles and responsibilities and so they are the world champions. We need to accept that and adopt it asap.
