The Agriculture Sector in Papua New Guinea

We are looking forward to hosting the CEO of the African Forum of Agricultural Advisory Services ( AFAAS)(www.afaas-africa.org), Dr. Silim Nahdy, at HADC 2024 ( www.ahadc.org) to provide a master class on the importance of providing extension services by inputs wholesalers and retailers - in particular on post- harvest handling and crop management to insure that farmers get the full value of their crops and do not lose their hard earned income because of poor post- harvest handling practices. There is also a key role that young people can play as community based advisors/ village based advisors to help rural farmers to adopt good farming practices and to use technology to disseminate knowledge about such practices. Inputs wholesalers and retailers can benefit from incorporating the provision of extension or agricultural advisory services into their offerings to the farmers who they supply inputs to. #HADC2024 #VisitRwanda #HAYA

??DAR is accepting applications for special budget subsidies Agricultural producers can apply through the State Agrarian Register for one of the special budget subsidies - for keeping cows or goats and/or sheep. ???The budget subsidy will be provided in accordance with the Procedure for the use of funds provided in the state budget to support farms and other agricultural producers, approved by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 918 dated 16.08.2022, in particular ? for farmers who own from 3 to 100 cows (of all productivity directions), a payment of UAH 7 thousand per head is provided ? for farmers who keep a breeding stock of goats and/or sheep from 5 to 500 heads, in the amount of UAH 2 thousand per head ?????? Who is eligible for assistance? Agrarians from all regions, except for the temporarily occupied territories and the zone of active hostilities, can apply for budgetary aid.

The Ministry of Food and Agriculture has allocated GH￠3.3billion for a complete implementation of government’s flagship Planting for Food and Jobs Phase II (PFJ 2.0).The allotment, as stated in MoFA’s Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) document for 2024-2027, says government will contribute some GH￠2.7billion of the amount while the remainder is sourced from development partners. MoFA indicates that with requisite commitment, diligence, collaboration, support and full participation of all actors along the value chain, PFJ 2.0 will make the country self-sufficient in all its staple commodities by the end of 2028. Toward these objectives, the document mentioned that four budget programmes and modules will be implemented. These programmes are: Crop and Livestock Development; Mechanisation, Irrigation and Water Management; Agribusiness Development; and Sustainable Management of Land and Environment. https://lnkd.in/dUxWTEKk
