Privacy & E-Commerce | Emerging Tech Policy Focus | Brand Innovators Top 100 Women to Watch | Glynn Capital 100 | IAPP member |

? As someone deeply interested in the legal intersection of data privacy and AI, I find Angelique Carson's Privacy Beat (TerraTrue) an invaluable source of insights. She brings fantastic guests to explore the future of these rapidly evolving fields. Her latest podcast with Andy Dale, GC and CPO at OpenAP was fascinating. A few key takeaways resonated: ??? Adtech Under the Microscope Their discussion of intensifying regulatory scrutiny of practices like using location data and third-party cookies was eye-opening. Andy's view that the industry must critically re-evaluate whether certain data practices are necessary highlighted how quickly the compliance landscape is shifting. ??? Privacy's Emerging Role in Governing AI This was the most thought-provoking part for me. As AI grows more powerful, Andy sees privacy as just one key voice in a cross-functional "village" approach—collaborating with technical, security, IP, and other teams. They're still figuring it out?but aim to ask upfront:?What purposes would we use AI for??How do we bake in ethics/trust principles??The lawyer's role may focus on ethics. ?? Timely Amid Rising Agency Scrutiny The episode was also timely, given the escalating federal agency moves on privacy. Andy's perspectives on cross-functional governance will grow more vital, with the FTC proposing major COPPA updates around kids' data and the CFPB's new financial data-sharing rules. His insights on the "village" approach were fascinating, considering the intersections with privacy, antitrust issues like the Epic Games lawsuit, and new regulations like the EU AI Act. Privacy will increasingly "collide" with these adjacent policy domains. Overall, it was an enriching look at the data privacy complex present and future from a leader bridging legal, ethical, and ad tech innovation. For those of us eyeing career paths where privacy and AI intersect, guests like Andy provide invaluable foresight into what lies ahead. The show's coverage continues to be a must-listen.?#privacylaw #dataprivacy #AIethics #AIgovernance #legaltech #lawandtech #adtech #privacycareers #innovationlaw

What happens when AI has enough data and power to predict buyer behavior and estimate all the social, personal, and healthcare repercussions of that purchase? Would a purchase recommendation that is knowingly negative for a customer's wellbeing not be unethical?
