This #internationalwomensday2024, we are sharing the story and advice of Elisa G., one of our valued software developers. "????'?? ?????????? ?????? ???????? ???? ?????????? ?????????????????? ??????". "??????'?? ?????? ???????????????? ???? ????????????-?????????? ???? ????????????' ????????????????????????". Wise words ?? we are lucky to have Elisa as part of our team.
As we celebrate International Women’s Day, we continue to share stories from the women of ASSA ABLOY Global Solutions. This time we get to meet Software Engineer Elisa G. Joining Biosite Systems Ltd back in 2018, Elisa’s career started in the classroom of a Secondary School, before heading into the world of coding. "My path to this role has been quite unique, as I originally began my career as a Secondary School English teacher. After spending five years within that role, I decided I wanted a career change. After intense studies of coding languages and software development principles, I got a job as an Associate Software Engineer. From there, I moved on to Biosite.” ? Milestones in my career: Moving to Biosite was by far the biggest milestone in my career. The support, education, and friendships I’ve made have allowed me to explore multiple areas of the role that may not have been available to me elsewhere. ? Challenges I’ve faced: Initially, there was the challenge of switching careers considerably. The applicable skills needed for an English teacher and a Software Engineer don’t have a lot in common, so there was a steep learning curve to being able to work independently without having had a technical degree or background. After moving to Biosite and receiving the support from within my department, I was able to work diligently and independently, leading me to where I am today. ? Why diversity is important in teams: I believe diversity leads to a variety of perspectives that help enrich our discussions and various decision-making processes. Within my team, the members bring unique perspectives from our different backgrounds, experiences, and cultures, aiding to ensure we create innovative solutions that best suit the needs of our products. This allows us to tackle complex problems from multiple angles effectively.? ? My advice: It's never too late to learn something new! Don't let yourself be pigeon-holed by others' expectations. Adjust your goals if they aren't making you happy and put effort into pursuing goals that bring you joy. #internationalwomensday #career #assaabloyglobalsolutions
