During his budget speech, the chancellor announced several initiatives to transform the public sector's digital infrastructure. Jeremy Hunt introduced the Public Sector Productivity Plan, which will receive £4.2bn in funding. This plan is meant to allow public services to invest in new technologies like AI, replace outdated IT systems and free up frontline workers from time-consuming admin tasks. The big investment will be the £3.4bn to modernise NHS IT systems. Hunt said this will improve patient care and unlock £35bn in productivity savings by 2030. The investment in new tech and digital transformation will include making the NHS app a single front door for patients, piloting new AI to reduce form-filling for doctors and rolling out universal electronic patient records. The chancellor also said that across education, the police, the courts and local government, he wants to see more efficient, better value and higher quality public services. It includes: - £230m on drones and new technology like facial recognition for policing - £10m in additional funding for The Crown Prosecution Service to digitise jury bundles in criminal courts, reducing paper waste and trial delays. - £17 million to accelerate DWP’s digital transformation, replacing paper-based processes with simplified online services. - Embracing the opportunities presented by using cutting-edge technology, such as AI, across the public sector. According to the article below, there's been 6 VoNC's since independence in 1975. while I wasnt arround for or old enough for some of them, the ones that I was old enough for has got me thinking about the alternate government... 1. What difference will there be with a new government? 2. What are their solutions? 3. Do they even have any? 4. If they did they would have published some of them right? 5. What's their action plan? 6. Or is it to take over then come up with a plan and solutions? 7. point 6 above should be the other way around right? 8. How can i support this change if I have no clue what they bring? 9. Are we expected to support it as long as there is a change in the hot seat and hope for the best? 10. Isn't point 9 above what's been happening over the last 6 VoNCs? 11. So far, according to what I've been reading, they have never pin pointed specific issues to target apart from the foreign debt. we have more issues to tsrget don't we? 12. How will these new clowns target transparency and accountability, Economic issues, Healthcare & Education, Social Welfare, Environmental issues, Law & Order, Foreign Policy and so on? I'm a citizen lost in this tussle of power and not in support for any side as they all seem to want one thing, to be in power. I think we need to have a situation where both sides publishes their action plan for change weeks prior to VoNC. https://lnkd.in/gHY3bSTZ

In our 2024 Autumn Budget Submission, we urge Government to reform and sustainably fund adult social care. Government should: Provide an immediate injection of funding to continue tackling the issues facing the care and support sector. End the reliance on council tax and the social care precept as a key means for funding adult social care and instead look to national taxation. Commit to a review of NHS Continuing Healthcare. Find a full summary of proposals in our submission document: https://orlo.uk/OciuB #LGA #LocalGov #AutumnBudget #SpendingReview #Budget24

In the U.S. House of Representatives, a bill was recently introduced that would extend and enhance the Paid Family and Medical Leave Credit (under IRC Section 45S). The bill proposes, among other things, to expand eligibility by reducing the minimum employment period for qualifying employees from one year to six months. The bill has broad bipartisan support and aligns with a Senate bill introduced earlier this year. However, passage is uncertain. The current credit is scheduled to expire at the end of next year. For additional information from the IRS on the credit in its current form: https://bit.ly/3y0ncrS #PaidLeave #TaxCredit #FamilyLeave #MedicalLeave #BipartisanSupport #TaxLegislation

It is despicable that that Ontario Government | Gouvernement de l’Ontario defends its "decision to continue to spend more money than they take in", especially when excess fees are being spent on creating profit for private #healthcare clinics, using agency staff to fill medical position vacancies and leasing hospital facilities for private clinic surgeries etc., not to mention the money spent on fighting Bill 124. How is this responsible government. It is not. Even the most naive business person knows better. Add to this the $500M surplus expected in 2026/2027 (just in time for an election) at the cost of healthcare in this province because of funding starvation, deception, deregulation, and the deliberate dismantling of the public healthcare system. Once again, I ask the Press to bring this into focus. Anyone who doubts the willful destruction of public healthcare must watch the following video. https://lnkd.in/gSvSmQsm. It describes how the British NHS was systematically dismantled. There is some irony here Ian … but politics is now like the Oxford / Cambridge Boat race … Dark Blue & Light Blue!! Thing is that the Boat Race administrators remain the same : whilst the party in power may change , it’s rowing against the same rip tide and currents that you’ll see from Putney to Mortlake Bridges. Should we be widening the competitor base & making the administrators and those running the race go with the tide not against it by bringing Parliament at least into the 20 th Century if not the 21st? “ Change” as far as New New Labour is concerned really means “ change” from Dark Blues to Light Blues… really from one Westminster elite to another: not changing to row with the tide. Imagine the spectacle from the Terrace outside Parliament if the parties rowed downstream not up. It’ll never happen because that would be too radical and mean actually embracing “ change”: Jacob Rees- Mogg isn’t / wasn’t the only Parliamentarian stuck in the 16 th Century. The real question is whether Parliament is still fit for purpose with the challenges we face post Brexit in Century 21 UK ???? plc. I hope it is but the jury’s out and it’s down to the Westminster 650 to SUSO not SOSO ( Stand Up Speak Out not Same Old Same Old) isn’t it?
An interesting statement, one I would of expected from our last government. Now we are waiting for an announcement about what the government are going to about Pip. That announcement does, not make me feel optimistic. What do you think? https://lnkd.in/grY7SF7M

Call to Action from the National Head Start Association! This week in D.C., Congress will be negotiating the government funding package to ensure essential services, including Head Start, remain funded. The House Labor/HHS appropriations bill includes a drastic $750 million cut to Head Start. This would mean roughly 80,000 children and their families losing access to the vital services provided by Head Start. Meanwhile, the Senate Appropriations Committee has approved a bipartisan bill that includes a $275 million increase in Head Start funding. However, it only provides for a 2.3% cost of living adjustment (COLA). With inflation currently at 3.1%, this adjustment would actually result in a loss for Head Start staff. Take action and email your members of Congress and urge them to oppose the proposed cuts to Head Start and to support a COLA that aligns with inflation. Thank you for your advocacy and support. Team NHSA

?? The country is about to vote in the most important election for a generation. Only Labour offer hope and positivity for the future - one that’s free from the constant chaos and broken public services that the Conservatives have left us. The choice is clear. Choose to elect a Labour government - one that understands people’s concerns, and offers true solutions to the real issues people care about: 1. ?? Tackling NHS waiting lists through a long-term workforce plan, investment in equipment with 20,000 new diagnostic scanners, and thousands of extra dentist & GP appointments - paid for through closing tax loopholes. 2. ?? Get Britain Building through reforming planning laws - making it easier to build new homes and infrastructure the country so desperately needs. 3. ?? Give children the best start with 6500 new teachers, and introduce ‘Life Skills’ to prepare them for the world of work and everyday life. 4. ??♀? Tackle anti-social behaviour with 13,000 extra police officers - dedicated to improving response times & community policing. 5. ?? Kickstart economic growth - unlocking vital funds for public services, and putting more money in the pockets of hard-working families. With measures to boost business investment, workforce training, and support for companies looking to grow, Labour are the party for business and entrepreneurship. ?? ?? Fixing public services isn’t something that will happen overnight, and there isn’t a ‘magic money tree’ that lets us spend beyond our means. Instead, it requires a long-term, sensible and co-ordinated plan - one that Labour have clearly set out, and offers real opportunity for change. ???? The UK is one of the best and most influential countries in the world - so let’s bring hope and optimism with a strong and stable Labour government. ?? #VoteLabour #EveryVoteCounts

Since Labour won the election, the general consensus is that public spending is going to rise. While the majority of spending will be focussed on the shiny political issues (Doctors & Nurses etc.), local authorities may finally see and end to year on year budget cuts. What does this mean for Licensing? In theory, Licensing is paid for by the income in generates from fees and therefore doesn't receive direct funding. This can lead to Licensing departments being seen as a cash cow, and income that should be ringfenced is funnelled back to the council to fund other services. My hope is that with more money being available to councils, there will be less hands reaching in to the Licensing cookie-jar, and more of the fee income will remain in the Licensing industry. Do you think investment in other departments will have an immediate knock-on effect to Licensing? #Licensing #publicsector #Labour
