We are very happy to announce that OMT, an Accelleron company, has entered into an agreement to acquire OMC2, an Italian manufacturer of four-stroke fuel injection equipment. This is an important step that enlarges OMT’s manufacturing base, responding to the growing demand of innovative dual-fuel injection systems. Acquiring OMC2 strengthens OMT’s position as leading supplier and innovator in the fuel injection development for alternative fuels for large marine engines and power applications. In 2023 about 50% of ship orders included dual-fuel engines requiring more advanced fuel injection systems which are mission-critical to transitioning to alternative fuels like green methanol, ammonia and hydrogen. We are looking forward to welcoming our new OMC2 colleagues, and to use our enhanced capacity to further accelerate the decarbonization journey of our customers in the marine and energy segment. We are very happy to announce that Accelleron’s OMT has entered into an agreement to acquire OMC2, an Italian manufacturer of four-stroke fuel injection components! It is an important step that will help us to meet the growing customer need for high-precision fuel injection systems. Did you know that as of 2023, about 50% of ship orders included dual-fuel engines, requiring increasingly complex fuel injection systems? With the addition of OMC2, we will strengthen OMT’s innovative offering of fuel injection technologies for those dual-fuel engines that have become mission-critical to transitioning to alternative fuels like green methanol, ammonia and hydrogen. Not only will the integration of OMC2 bring additional production capacity and reduce lead times, but OMC2’s existing assets, including real estate, will also provide a strong base to support OMT’s long-term growth strategy, especially in the four-stroke fuel injection business. A design and build project installed five EVSE (electrical vehicle supply equipment) units at a new distribution warehouse, but never terminated them. This was due to them not being on the original design, and the capacity of the system would be overloaded if they were installed. The five units helped the installation company hit a Net Zero target and were added to the UKs total figure, but the EVSE could never be used. The units still sit in a car park not connected to the system and the SWA cables are cut short and buried in gravel. I could not be more excited today! We have just announced ABB’s first instrumentation product with an Environmental Product Declaration - a major milestone on our circularity journey. EPDs are based on Life Cycle Assessment and are a declaration of the product’s environmental impact over its entire life cycle, from resource extraction to end-of-life. The EPD provides our customers with a way to understand and compare the footprint of products on the market. As you can imagine this kind of certification doesn’t happen overnight. We’ve put into this quite some time and effort. As part of the verification process, the assessor EPD International performed a rigorous audit of our factory in Ossuccio, Italy where the product - the PGS300 pressure transmitter - is manufactured. The assessor also checked relevant documentation from the five Assembly-To-Order sites around the world where the PGS300 can be assembled. This was the first time we have been able to test and validate the environmental performance of one of our instrumentation products against the existing - and very demanding! - rules and regulations. I am extremely happy that the PGS300 now comes with this important certification, demonstrating our continued commitment to circularity and sustainability.
