In the early days, every decision matters—not just for your baby, but for you and your partner too. Some decisions will need to be made together, while others will require you to trust your gut. The Reality: We don’t know it all. We’re not always as prepared as we should be. And sometimes, focusing on the solution isn’t the answer. When your judgment is clouded or you’re unsure about the support your partner needs, it’s easy to feel isolated—or even useless. Your partner may feel you’re not fully there for her, even when you are. I’ve been there. I wanted nothing more than to feel useful and add value. But with my career not where I wanted it to be, I felt lost, conflicted, and out of my depth. There were moments when my role boiled down to simply being present and supportive. And honestly? I underestimated just how important that part of the job was. In the Early Days, Focus On: ? Celebrating her progress. Every little step matters. ? Watching for signs of stress. Pay attention to how she’s really doing. ? Actively listening. Understand the mental and physical impact baby has on her. At the same time, you need to: ? Be clear on your role and the impact you can have. ? Keep things simple—because it’s the simple things that matter most. My Advice: Focus on the basics. Why? Because those small actions have the greatest impact on your family’s progress. This Week, Prioritise: ? Finding joy in the journey. Embrace the chaos with gratitude. ? Celebrating your progress. We should make choices that makes us feel lighter, even if those choices don't reflect what society has told us - that we "should" do. We should befriend people we respect, and who inspire us, even if it means starting over. We should interpret our lives through the lens of positivity and optimism, even in a world that feels harsh. We should orient ourselves in the direction of joy, every single day. We all should focus on what's working in our life and start giving more space to "it's all working out for me". We need to understand that hope is not dangerous, it's essential. We need to be our own support system and make our mind a beautiful garden, where we can choose the most beautiful thought at any given time. We all deserve a life we love, but we need to create it, build it, curate it. There are no guarantees on this side of existence. The fact that you saw your friend yesterday does not mean you will see them tomorrow. Indeed, that chat may be the last one you get from them; please reply thoughtfully. That call may just be the last one; please speak kindly. That hug may be the last one you get from them; hold on tighter and longer. That goodbye or goodnight may be the last one; be more intentional, not dismissive. Love passionately. Let those you love know that you love them. Life is fickle. Time is fleeting. This earth is a serviced apartment; nothing really belongs to you. You came empty, and you will leave empty. Sadly, none of us will make it out of here alive. So, make every moment count. Whilst we don't pray for it to happen soon, life is unpredictably reckless. There is no particular order to depart. Death can come calling at any time. Fortunately though, what becomes of you in the afterlife is a product of your choices and decisions here. So, you do have an opportunity to decide how you will spend eternity. What you can't choose however is to decide to stay here forever. So, love well and live well. Lessons Learned - *Resilience and Adaptability*: Childhood was a time of constant exploration and experimentation. I learned to pick myself up after falling, to adapt to new situations, and to be resilient in the face of challenges. - *Imagination and Creativity*: Unbridled imagination and creativity were the hallmarks of my childhood. I learned to think outside the box, to dream big, and to bring my ideas to life. - *Empathy and Compassion*: Through interactions with family, friends, and community, I developed essential social skills like empathy and compassion. I learned to put myself in others' shoes and to show kindness and understanding. ?????????????????? ???????????????? # 121 How many “yous” can you find…..? None? Many? One fine day, while searching on google, out of nothing-to-do-curiosity I searched for my name on Google…. I could see so many results for Payal Shukla ??- there were many other Payal Shuklas – one a popular tv actor, another something else. I moved to other social media platforms and searched for my name there- LinkedIn gave me 177 results, Facebook also showed some 100 odd people with same name and so on But each person was different even with a same name – the qualifications, location, and everything else was different for everyone. Some were doing quiet well in life, some were doing nothing, some were still studying, some were quite active some hadn’t posted anything since long. On seeing some LinkedIn profiles I could see the person way ahead in career, on google, the actor with the same name had won many accolades ?- I admired some and was inspired by others – people who by luck share the same name – first as well as surname!!! But have different journeys…. Looking back, even during school days when all of us in a class were equal in terms of age, intelligence, some have done quiet well in life and some have settled in a comfortable and happy life.. Even on professional side, people with whom we started our initial jobs with, are on different paths now. In short people may be same in terms of name, education, qualification, location etc but each one has a different journey. One may be ahead of another and one may still be lagging behind. Instead of feeling the FOMO (fear of missing out) or getting depressed of one’s own slow journey, and rushing to stay in the race, and loosing own’s peace, enjoy and love your journey whatever it may be. Yesterday at the airport, I got distracted, having seen a dear old friend, and I left my phone charger cable behind, leaving me with virtually no phone battery when I arrived in Joburg, and still needing to find an Uber. ? My words to myself in that moment were, "what’s wrong with me???" ? Luckily it all worked out ok, thanks to a kind stranger on the train offering to lend me a charger. ? But I mean really, where was my self-compassion? ? ? ? ???????????????? ???????????? ?????? ??????????: ???????????????? ????????-?????????????????????? Treat yourself with the same kindness and understanding you'd offer a dear friend.
