**NT Correctional Services welcomes Yolonda Adams** Ms Yolonda Adams joins Northern Territory Correctional Services as the new Deputy Commissioner.? ? Ms Adams is a Larrakia woman with extensive workplace experience and academic knowledge of Northern Territory corrections.?In particular, she has a background in clinical programs and offender services at a strategic and practical level, and she will bring her expertise in growing our offender development, rehabilitation, and reintegration capabilities. Ms Adams joins the agency from NT Health where she held the position of Chief?First Nations?Health Officer. Ms Adams has particular strengths in strategic leadership, advisory, management and governance roles. ? She is a qualified psychologist and an Adjunct Professor at Charles Darwin University. Ms Adams?has submitted her PhD research with Griffith University, which focusses on the prison social climate for Aboriginal prisoners in the NT. She is a published author and expert on issues affecting Aboriginal health, mental health, and prison services. Ms Adams has extensive practical experience previously working in NTCS, Territory Families, Housing and Communities youth justice and child protection, and Aboriginal community health organisations. Ms Adams also has international experience in reviewing custodial approaches in Canada. ?
