EACON Mining's autonomous fleet tech moves into iron ore EACON Mining has recently secured its first #ironore project by partnering with #Xichang Mining, a #Baowu Group company, to automate operations at the #Taihe iron mine, which marks a significant step for EACON as it expands its footprint from coal, aggregate, and gold mining into the iron ore sector. The project will automate six SANY Group electric #miningtrucks, with a payload capacity of 70 tons, reinforcing EACON’s leadership in sustainable #autonomousmining solutions. This is the first phase of the mine’s automation, with plans for a full site rollout following successful implementation. In this project, EACON Mining will provide its OEM-agnostic autonomous haulage solution (AHS) #ORCASTRA? for the fleet of SANY #batteryelectric trucks, each equipped with drive-by-wire systems per EACON’s requirements and standards. Alongside the onboard AHS system ORCASTRA? Pilot, EACON will deploy its full suite of #AHS capabilities, including the #fleetmanagement system, ORCASTRA? Conductor and the crewed equipment & vehicle system, ORCASTRA? Crew. ORCASTRA? Conductor will also schedule the #chargingcycles of #electrictrucks for optimal efficiency and ensure operational continuity. The Taihe iron ore mine poses unique challenges, particularly in its crusher zones and loading area. The #autonomous trucks have to share one crusher pocket and loading area with crewed trucks. And the limited space in these areas leads to overlapping paths and complex traffic flows. By offering flexible and adaptable automation solutions with a low entry barrier, EACON says it provides a strong value proposition for miners seeking to enhance safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. **Sandvik to supply #mining equipment to Almina in Portugal** - Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions secured an order to supply 32 units of mining equipment to #Almina Minas do Alentejo through distributor Cimertex. - The order includes 20 Toro #TH663i trucks, five Toro #LH621i loaders, four Sandvik #DS411 rock bolters, and three Sandlink #DL421 longhole drills to double Almina's production capacity. - Deliveries start in Q3 2024 and extend into 2025, enhancing Almina's Iberian pyrite belt operations and increasing output to six million tonnes per year. - The seven-year service contract with Sandvik ensures full aftermarket service, with 12 trucks featuring the AutoMine Fleet automation system for remote control. - Sandvik and Cimertex have collaborated for over 20 years, with Cimertex executive director álvaro Bastos noting the higher productivity and lower costs from Sandvik’s autonomous equipment. #mining #mineralexploration #mineralprocessing

Modular system for your hydrometallurgy plants

Heavy underground haulage in Chile Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions has announced the delivery of the latest 63 t class TH663i truck as part of an order for six units that was awarded last year by customer Grupo Minero Carola-Coemin in #Chile. The OEM says this truck stands out for its ability to raise sustainability, safety and technology indexes. “The award represents a growth in the fleet and confirms the commitment to our customer Grupo Minero Carola-Coemin. We look forward to further consolidating this relationship, which has been growing steadily in recent years.” The Carola-Coemin Group is made up of 100% Chilean capital, and is dedicated to the extraction of minerals and production of #copper, #gold and #silver concentrates. The ore is extracted from the Carola mine and subsequently processed at the Cerrillos plant, where the concentrate is produced which is then processed at the Hernán Videla L Smelter. Carola is an underground deposit from which ore is extracted through #sublevelstoping with production carried out up to 50 m above sea level. All of the ore is processed at the Cerrillos plant, 11 km away from the main adit. The Cerrillos plant is owned by Compa?ía Exploradora y Explotadora Minera Chileno Rumana and is located 30 km south of the city of #Copiapó. It produces copper concentrates through a conventional flotation process. The ore comes from Carola mine and is mainly composed of #chalcopyrite and other copper mineralisation. Within the production process, the operation of a state-of-the-art tailings #thickener allows deposition of #pastetailings instead of conventional #tailings, recovering and reusing over 85% of the process water, in addition to providing greater physical and chemical stability to the mining process. Underground mining will form one of two streams at the forthcoming Electric Mine 2025 conference being held May 13-15 at Centro Parque in #Santiago, Chile.
