This is how electricity consumption is metered and visualized in an advanced country: I just wanted to enter some bank account information and then noticed this. It even tells me how much I consumed at different times of a given day. By contrast, in Medieval Germany each household gets a postcard once a year to fill out with the value of a counter (one can also report via a website, to be fair) or, in the best-case scenario, the counter has radio capability and they send someone to walk by the house once a year to retrieve the value. ??♂? But politicians get away with it because voters don't understand how far behind their country is.
