As a therapist, you may think I would say that a therapy session is where change happens, it's not. Change happens in you. That occurs between sessions as you let things sink in and slowly create new pathways of thinking, feeling and relating. So, I tell individuals in a session with me: " Here is therapy homework. It is not to do like an assignment for the teacher to assess. It is to validate that the work happens between sessions. It is to help "the work" feel more contained and organized because doing an assignment (as opposed to just thinking and reflecting without borders) holds space much like a session does. It has a beginning and an end." So, here is Internal Family Systems "parts" homework. If you landed here from the article, welcome! Please follow ENYA, Everyone Needs You Always.
