Is Artificial intelligence the new electricity? ? $15.7 Trillion to the global economy 2030(PWC) ? Labor productivity improvement and product enhancement ? Artificial Intelligence is creating interesting opportunities for companies, but it also amplifies the power of cybercriminals' attacks. This news will shed some light on the emerging risks with the growing use of artificial intelligence in cybersecurity by giving an overview of the main methods used by hackers, including Artificial Intelligence. For several years now, cybercriminals have been appropriating Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies to boost their precision and improve the success of their cyberattacks. This malicious use of AI is becoming increasingly widespread. Cybercriminals on the rise: ? Vulnerability discovery capabilities increase: Artificial Intelligence could be a powerful tool to help cybercriminals by facilitating and automating the discovery of new vulnerabilities in our products, applications, and network. Thus, the smallest exposed or poorly protected component can be a threat, as it is a potential entry point for an attacker. ? Neo-hackers’ empowerment: Artificial Intelligence and especially tools such as GenerativeAI (ChatGPT, etc) are a huge opportunity for unexperienced hackers. They no longer need to be an expert in coding, artificial intelligence offers a real advantage for anyone wishing to carry out a cyberattack. ? New attack techniques development: Recently, a cybersecurity researcher was able to generate polymorphic malware , a complex malicious software, even more effective thanks to its ability to change its appearance during replication, thereby reducing the detection capacity of antivirus software against this type of malware. Use of AI to enhance cyberattacks: The use of Artificial Intelligence makes it possible to improve existing attack techniques whether it's purely technical (coding malicious software...) or the intelligence based on exploiting human vulnerabilities. Without AI, creating a cyberattack can take from hours to days. AI is therefore capable of handling many of the often-time-consuming stages in the creation of a cyberattack, which seems almost automated: ? Social Engineering ? Phishing-on-demand ? Malicious Software automation ? Increasingly effective supply chain attacks The Way forward in your company’s cybersecurity? To face these risks, your company cybersecurity teams must keep a close watch on hackers' practices and are strengthening your systems to deal with these threats and prevent cyberattacks. In addition, AI enables security teams to monitor these new practices and tools to address these threats with more effectiveness. Having looked at the challenges above, in my next post I’ll be shedding light on how you can use AI to strengthen corporate cyber security? #staytuned #cybersecurity #cybersecurityawareness
