You will never win me ?? Because I’m not competing with you. In my five-year journey as an entrepreneur and ten-year journey as the founder of Asian Scientist Magazine, I’ve seen many founders and businesses come and go. Whenever a startup is born, I am excited for their founders. Whenever a startup dies, I am disappointed for their founders. Even if they are competing with me directly or indirectly, or operating in a manner detrimental to me. It doesn’t matter. Why? Because I believe in the law of abundance. ?? The day I learnt about the abundance mindset, I was released from a lifetime of scarcity. Having an abundance mindset is liberating. It means that you don’t believe the world operates in a zero-sum manner. You believe there is an infinite amount of resources available: projects, jobs, talent, friends, money, clients. You believe that the pie is big enough for everyone, and instead of fighting for crumbs, you can even collaborate with each other to enlarge the pie. ??If you lose a job, you believe a better job is waiting for you out there ??If you lose a client or an employee, you believe a better one awaits ??If you are disappointed by someone, you move on peacefully and let the universe take care of it Time and time again, I have been challenged by circumstance to revert to a scarcity mindset, where you believe resources are finite and someone else winning means you are losing. A scarcity mindset means you can’t truly be happy for others when they succeed. Because you’re now losing. A scarcity mindset means when your friends or colleagues find love, have kids or win promotions and raises, you default to comparison and feelings of inadequacy. A scarcity mindset also means you’re always pacing yourself against your competitors and hoping they fail. Because if they fail, you feel that you have a better chance of succeeding. That sounds like a miserable existence filled with anxiety and stress. ??♀? That’s not a life worth living, IMHO. ??♂? That’s why I reject it, and I encourage everyone to abandon the scarcity mindset. The world is abundant and full of goodness. Believe it, and believe it from the bottom of your heart. You get what you give: if you give out positive energy and state clearly your intentions, you will receive the same energy and what you desire in return. And if you like competition, then compete! But with yourself. Push yourself to grow and improve and be a better version of who you are today. Just don’t compete with me, please. I’m happy staying in my own lane, playing my own game. ?? #julianaCEOmom #abundancemindset #scarcitymindset #growthmindset #mindset #inspiration #coach #mission #passion #mentalhealth #entrepreneurship #linkedintopvoices ??: manifesting abundance at my company’s three-day annual retreat in Bali last week

It really does sound a miserable way to think & feel … Of course many struggle to believe it until they see and feel proof themselves. I always say “let’s try an experiment”, … but truthfully it takes some time to really adjust your mindset - and also to recognise the abundance coming back around. Your examples are a powerful nudge and validation for people to give it a try ?? Keep up your powerful mission of abundance and positivity ??

This is so true Juliana Chan, PhD Love it. If we could shift from the scarcity mindset to the abundant mindset, from the poor mindset to the rich mindset, and from the fixed mindset to the growth mindset, this world would be a way better place to live in. ?? If we only have one life, why not live the best, life has to offer? It is all our responsibility, not your parents, your bosses, your neighbors, the government, or the society. We all own it. Keep it up as this type of message needs to be heard by everyone.

Juliana so spot on here, “The world is abundant and full of goodness. Believe it, and believe it from the bottom of your heart. You get what you give: if you give out positive energy and state clearly your intentions, you will receive the same energy and what you desire in return.” I learned this early on from my Maternal Grandmother Elizabeth. She was born in 1912, lost her twin brother and mother to the Spanish Flu in 1920 but she was always positive. She had such a strong belief in God and Jesus and she was a proponent of the Positive Thinking works of Dr. Norman Vincent Peale. She believed that God provided abundantly and with grace if you let him. I’ve tried to live up to what she taught me and sometimes I fall short but I know she’s always with me regardless of what I do and how I do it. I smile when I think of her, her love to me as her only Grandson and the legacy of Hope and love she left to all that met her.

That’s a good way of looking at it. There was a recent article of Singaporean’s fear of being merely average. If we believe in abundance, and competition is with oneself, then concept of average don’t really exist. Juliana Chan, PhD Fully agree, Juliana. The universe is limitless and so we live in a world of abundance. Enough for everyone. The abundance mindset is critical in healthy mental development. We all come to this world, not just to work and compete, but to be a better version of ourselves when we leave this world. That is the ultimate objective. Our wisdom is the only thing we can bring with us.

There is space for everyone of us because each one of us is unique. As you say, a scarcity mindset leads to a miserable existence and inaction because you end up thinking that everything is out of your hands so what’s the point of trying. Your photo captures the joy of abundance.
