Digging Marty Cagan's last article and agree that Management Consultancies, or the Agile Coaches cannot drive Digital Transformation because they're "people who had never actually built products". ?? Petra Wille also writes about why "Agile Coaches can't be Product Coaches", and I agree. ?? Links in comments. #productmanagement #productcoaches #agilecoaches #digitaltransformation

This discussion again… I am an “agile coach”, but I have probably build and supported building products in a wider range than most “product coaches”. I have done hardware (incl medtech), software, services, chemicals, insurance products, name it… A good “agile coach” needs to have had product development expertise. If they don’t have it, they are not an “agile coach”. You can’t believe someone claiming a title without being able to demonstrate the experience. I mean the same applies to “product coaches”. Anyone can call themselves a “product coach” right? Should we believe anyone who does? No! So instead of classifying people based on their profession, we should rather have a look at what they can and can’t do. I must honestly say, I don’t believe that most “product coaches” are fit to support a digital transformation… why? Because most of them have never done change. But I am sure there are some like Marty and his team who can do this… because they experienced that change first hand and supported several clients through these journeys. If we generalize too much and are not open to see the person instead of the title, we are not at all better than people who classify others based on the color of their skin.
