The Diversity Agenda Accord Summit 2023 - where do we start! ?? THANK YOU ?? to our accord members who attended our annual summit last week at New Zealand Parliament. The atmosphere, passion and commitment in the room was 10-fold and the outcome was even greater. To set the scene, we were inspired by Naomi Manu, founder of Pūhoro STEMM Academy, the largest indigenous STEM program in the world; and WOW'd by our esteemed panel, including Soltice Morrison, leader of Aurecon's Māori strategy, Derek Kawiti, Professor of Architecture at the Victoria University of Wellington, Sophia Schulz, co-leader of the equity team for women in engineering at Auckland University and Aryan Karan, co-president for Rainbow Engineering UoA. An interactive highlight was a ?? Dragons Den style activity, where we heard some truly brilliant ideas to drive our 2025 strategic goals ?? These goals include retaining and promoting more women into leadership roles, creating inclusive workplaces for neurodivergent individuals, how we can increase māori participation in STEM and addressing the 5.5% gender pay equity gap that still persists. The next 12 months is shaping up to be a busy year, and we're excited to take on the challenges and continue to support our community. #diversity #newzealand #architecture #engineering
I'm proud to be part of the Diversity Agenda Accord and being part of the change we want to see across the engineering and architecture sectors. A big shout out to Charlotte Downes for all the great work over the last 12 months.
