This is a quick summary of inclusion and Complicated by Doctor Nika White and I'm going to answer 5 questions. Why is this book important? People do make inclusion complicated. This book does a really good job of making it very simple. Some could argue uncomplicated. Who is this book for? To be honest, I wasn't really sure and the author herself says that she hadn't made any assumptions about the readers. I think it's for anyone who wants a nice soft landing, a gentle introduction to the topic. Without being guilted or shamed about not knowing things, the author's got a very sort of positive, reassuring style. Key messages came at the very beginning of the book for me. It was the idea of leaving no one behind. The positive, reassuring style really made you feel that it was about bringing everyone along in an intentional way. That word intent intentional. Very important for the book Key takeaways. What I'm going to say is probably not what most people would say, but I like the idea of dialogue as an asset. It wasn't a huge part of the book, but it really made me think about how useful it would be to conceptualize dialogue itself between people as an asset in and of itself within an organization. It made me think about the quality and the quantity of the dialogue that we're having. I thought that was really interesting. Other considerations. The authors got a marketing communications background and that really shows up in the book. In the sort of straightforward approach, and it felt like the authors are really skilled copywriter, That's what I got from the book. As always, I want you to make your own mind up.
