I think many of us are "Joanna". I can definitely relate to the sense of obligation to family, friends, while trying to perform at a high level. In fact, the physical impact of my unresolved dissonance is what caused me to "wake up" and realize this wasn't surface level stress, and that ignoring it could lead to a worse fate than I experienced. A good reminder that most of our stressors can’t be cured by external measures (the glass of wine, the yoga class) but by a system of internal processes!
It is truly sad that this story is so relatable and that most of us read this article and ut immediately correlates to a moment current or past in our lives. I am truly thankful people share their stories to let people know they are not alone.
^This So many people feel stress is their problem. But it’s a symptom. Lack of alignment with what their role demands and how they want to build their life is a much deeper problem.
