Sustainability ?? Circular Economy ?? Net Zero ?? Climate Tech ?? Future Trends ??

?? It has been a pretty grim week for those of us actively involved in the efforts to address climate breakdown. ?? The IPCC report makes for a sobering read, even for those of us who knew what to expect. ??? In my first blog for Stand, I've add a few thoughts to the wider commentary that has been going on this week. ?? This isn't a detailed summary of the report, as you'll have seen plenty of those already. ?? Instead, I've pulled out three key takeaways, that can be summarised as: 1. It's bad - worse than we thought - and whilst we are leaving it really late in the day, we still have time to take action that will have a meaningful impact. 2. We already have lots of commercially and scientifically proven solutions. We just need to political and capital will to ensure these are rolled at the scale and pace we need. 3. We need to create a mass movement and engage everyone - especially the persuadables - to put as much pressure on those in positions of power to do everything they can to avert the worst outcomes as outlined in the report. That way they can't ignore the stark reality any longer! ? This got me thinking about what I could do to try and engage the persuadables (those not already actively engaged in climate action) with this issue! ?? I've decided that I'll talk about the IPCC report with the parents I chat to on the school run. I'm going to say it's been a hard week reading the report and thinking about the future we are leaving for our kids. I'll share my worries and concerns that our politicians are not taking it seriously enough. ? What will you pledge to do to help get the message out? #climatechange #climateactionnow #noplanetb

Have you watched this on Apple? Quite sobering about life across the decades as we don’t address it. People making most off of climate change. Time for me to finish Ministry of the Future. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt13821126/

Thanks for writing this Claire Brady. I really appreciate your strategic and thoughtful approach. It's one of the most pragmatic, optimistic, and frankly smartest perspectives that I've read over the past week. Strategic communications seems to be polarised between helping organisations create air cover for climate woe on one side of the climate issue, and fear tactics on the other. You give hope and I appreciate that. Thank you ??

Thanks, Claire Brady, and thanks Stephen Waddington for the pointer in your direction. Between the growing anti-ESG movement in the US and the "let's get it perfect" lobby in Europe, we seem to be sleepwalking towards the cliff. If we could all take your approach of just doing SOMETHING TODAY, then we have a chance. Otherwise, I really worry for our kids' futures.
