Special Operations Command Korea | Information Advantage Scholar | Translates Defense Acronyms -> Human Speak

Had the opportunity today to listen to and engage with some thought provoking speakers focused on the field of #cybersecurity at the first annual Cyber Security Conference hosted by The University of Kansas and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Key themes I took away: - Cybersecurity requires partnership and a hybrid architecture which challenge existing U.S. views of authorities and civilian-government-industry relations. - The democratization of Cyber may also present an underlying risk if security comes at cost to utilization. If a user can’t use or access systems due to barriers, but still has a digital persona in those systems, this presents a risk. - Education is where we build tomorrow’s Cyber workforce. - The understanding of human cognition as it relates to the digital environment is advancing, offering better understanding of this relationship and the ethical considerations moving forward. - As a comparison to physical warfare, the offensive actor in the current cyber environment has an advantage over the defensive actor. This incentives exploitive measures in the environment. - Research and development is learning. There are plenty of universities and R&D facilities looking to advance #security with using real-world examples for pragmatic results. So much more in my notes, and I thoroughly appreciated getting to advance my understanding of the #informationenvironment with the #InformationAdvantage scholars. #army #usaf #usmc U.S. Army Command and General Staff College
