We often look ahead to what's next rather than taking a moment to reflect. But could the times we pause and acknowledge a moment of achievement, even the small ones, help us grow? Science proves an intriguing link between emotions and our habits. What is something you accomplished today? This week? This month? #growth #momentum
Marking the moment is "a slice of life" pared down for our rapidly-moving world. It seems to allow the chance to catch our breath and reflect upon the small to the huge positive changes that happen on a daily, hourly, and sometimes moment-by-moment basis. I've always enjoyed time for reflection; marking the moment seems to enable us to do this and is constructed for our modern pace of life.
I love this Whitney, This morning I was reading and writing about the Paradox of Change and the S-Curve applies perfectly. If we try to make a massive change quickly it can fail pretty fast. The proportion of change needs to happen step by step and in small ways that way when you are on the S-curve it's easier to stick with your goal then just giving up on it. What did I accomplish today? I was excited to get an article written and to spend a little creative time reading and thinking.
I love the idea here of marking the moment, of embracing the optimism that allows us over time to believe that we can change, that we are capable of it.
Great article. Reflecting on and acknowledging our progress is such an important step in achieving our goals. It helps us realise what we've already achieved, then gives us energy and motivation to keep going.
Great read Whitney Johnson. Love the emphasis on reflection and that the richest learning moments can come through this process, enabling us to understand what works and find the opportunities to tweak and try again. And when it comes to 2023 I’m reminded in reading this to build goals and a plan connected to one’s ‘why’ and purpose so that when February rolls around we don’t abort the plans with such ease! So many golden nuggets in this read.
I'm a big fan of celebrating small wins, Whitney. I'll take progress over perfection, any day. This was a great read. Loved it.
The point is to acknowledge even the smallest progress when it seems invisible and we feel stagnant. Feeling successful is about feeling we are making progress first before reaching the big goal. Great post Whitney Johnson
Absolutely! Feelings drive our actions and inaction.
Since reading your book and learning about the curve, I can recognize why I have been so drained and conflicted professionally the past several years. I am more determined than ever to make a change for my overall health. Thank you for these articles because they are fuel for my resolve.

2 年I have realized something this week, we don't need a specific time to Kickoff something new that matters to us. We have that opportunity every moment of the day. We need to go for it, not with a disappointment of the past but a gratefulness of the present, that will fuel the future. As always Whitney Johnson Thanks for allowing to share our mutual journeys.
