I just cancelled ALL our employee benefits. They were a total waste of money ??. - Unlimited holiday. Gone. - Unlimited learning (we pay for courses). Gone. - Unlimited books from Amazon. Gone. Because NO ONE was using them. So instead, we’ve introduced: - 30 days paid holiday. - £100 towards your commuting cost, monthly. - £45 towards your wellbeing, monthly. - £10 towards your home WiFi bill, monthly. These new benefits are actually costing me more than the ones we had before, but they’re so much better. Because they’re what the team actually want. Besides, if you’re employee benefits don’t benefit your employees, what’s the point of having them? ??
What about private healthcare..............you can't think that's a waste of money, surely???
How was it a waste of money if nobody was using them ??????
Before that, holidays were unpaid, were they? Unlimited holiday... so gererous of you ??
Did you think about financial education?
Wait, you offered unlimited books bought from Amazon?? No one was using that?? I have such a massive list of books on Amazon ????
I'm super into this except why cut money for learning and books? I think you'll find people don't use their learning budget because they aren't given time too. Not because they don't want to. Also you are less likely to attract new talent that values learning and thus further decrease learning at your company
Can’t believe the amount of people taken in by this absolute tosh. Fuel bills at record highs, energy bills at record highs, on the verge of a recession and this organization think employees are actually going to be putting £10 towards their Wi-Fi bill etc. Of course they aren’t. The £155 landing in their pay packet (not literally) will go towards paying general bills or a holiday fund. Nice jesture but unthought through and naive. With regards 30 days. Now an industry standard in most corporates so hardly ground breaking.
These are excellent benefits you have made up yourself and they directly benefit each employee. The problem is most common employee benefit actually can end up being a burden or cost on the employee and therefore they never get used. Example 1: You want more holiday, sure you can buy up to 5 days per year but we will deduct the money from your salary. Example 2: We have already given you medical insurance, but you want it for your partner and kids too, sure we will just deduct more from your salary. The government also taxes alot of benefits, so the money being deducted from your salary gets taxed first and then deducted, so you effectively get charged twice for taking the benefit.

2 年Interested to know if you explored why these didn't work, and what the answer was. For example: - Unlimited holiday. Did people feel like they could take it without being judged? - Unlimited learning (we pay for courses). Did your team have enough time to commit to learning, or know what they should be focussing on? - Unlimited books from Amazon. Do people prefer podcasts / other learning channels? It's great to review benefits and chop the ones that aren't providing value (and it's something we need to do more), but I wonder if there's a deeper issue that needs fixing too. ps. love the wellbeing budget.
