This is outrageous, fantastic, cruel, monstruous, cool and senseless at the sime time. Remember Masdar city. Just look it up. We need indeed strong imaginaries about city futures, we need collective systems of change and cities are well placed to start that endeavour. But this is over the top and every inch a waste of time and money. It may have the advantage to start discussion, but in a sense it's just the ecomodernistic version of Expo 1958 (Brussels) where man's aspiration to thrive technologically and to colonise nature became so apparent. It offers good points for thought, and it may contain some breakthrough insights for closed loop systems for nutrients, materials and water, but in the end it is an extremely flawed and distractive picture.

Neom is the most important project worldwide, where challenges will be overcome and will be a model to show self-sustainability and his majesty the prince, has already addressed them and has multiple alternatives to build a new form of coexistence and development. Neom is and will be more than a project, an invitation to humanity to take a way of life. ???? ?? ??? ????? ??? ????? ?????? ? ??? ???? ?????? ??? ???????? ?????? ??????? ?????? ????????? ??????? ?????? ?????? ?? ??????? ?????? ????? ????? ?????? ????? ??? ???? ?? ??????? ????????. ???? ?? ?????? ???? ?? ???? ????? ? ???? ??????? ?????? ????? ????.

When a city started in the deserts that we call UAE today no one believed it will be real. Today this country holds a good part of the world's population. Utopia and ideas like THE LINE are feasible because as humans, we can tell just how much our technology will lead us in a specific time in the future. With our technology we can actually estimate that 50 years into the future a project like this one will be standing although there are going to be challenges, we can also get sight of the solutions. However, 50 years after this period is not our duty to be concerned with. Because we don't know how technology will turn out, the world could be in destruction of ideas like this, or the world could be relocating its population to Mars, or the world could be facing a water crisis, or a new disease, or this or that. But as long as ideas like this come with possible feasible solutions to future challenges, there is no reason why it can not be executed, no matter the negative views that come with it. NEOM has been changing the narrative using #technology and #innovativedesign ideas and I believe we have to find a common ground to respect #nature whilst living on the planet earth. I would love to be a part of this project.

Great concept, but as many others, there are so many questions. Leaving the technology and construction methods aside, how does this tackle the concept of social class? The rich, poor and powerful? Do the rich live at the water side and poor down the back next to the desert? If this development is estimated to cost $1 trillion USD for 9 million people to inhabit, does that mean the median wealth needs to be a minimum of $12,000 USD per person? Who owns the asset? The state? Do you lease the space for a term? How does capitalism work in this ecosystem? What are the proposed operating costs?

I have a doubt! How can zero gravity travel be possible on Earth with this city?? Anyone who has more knowledge and experience about these things, please explain me... I'm eagerly waiting to learn about this! Thanks! :)

Imagine the largest shopping Mall you Know, Trafford Centre or Meadowhall maybe? Then stretch that out over 170 km, including offices, workspaces, factories, accommodation, leisure, sports, wellness and all manner of recreation. Solar power will monster any energy needs, they will run hyperloops from on end to the other and shorter journeys on electric vehicles etc. I worked in Saudi in the mid seventies for 12 years, when I look where they are now to where they were in the seventies, I can only offer one piece of advice, if anyone can do it the Saudis can.
