The war in Ukraine has presented our finance team with many challenges. We had to design new solutions and rebuild processes, working 16-17 hours a day for several weeks straight. DataArt’s core values united us in the face of difficult circumstances and lifted our team’s spirit. Here are some examples of how our core company values guided and were reflected in our actions.?? “People First” In the initial days of the Invasion, we would start the day by asking if everyone was safe. We felt especially bonded by our shared emotional response to our new reality. It was vital to talk about it so that no one felt alone. “Everyone had the same goal, and I’m proud of our team's deep empathy and adaptability," says CFO Luba Kabrits.?? “Flexibility” Many of our colleagues were on the move, so we had an unprecedented challenge of keeping track of everyone. Relocating colleagues needed financial help at different times, so we set up an additional support team to group colleagues according to the urgency of their needs. We revised payment cycles and methods and created new ones. We were continuously communicating with banks to speed up payments.? “Expertise“? With people moving globally, the team had to deal with questions regarding treaties, tax residency, and legal and immigration rules, which greatly expanded our knowledge base used for education of our colleagues.?? “Trust”?? We established an aid fund through which clients and colleagues were able to help our Ukrainian colleagues and their families, in addition to the financial help DataArt provided to relocating staff. Many current and former clients and colleagues were helping colleagues and their families directly.??? We realized that we needed to further diversify our resource allocation model. We've always been a global team, but our resources have been concentrated in physical offices. Looking forward, we now see a truly global delivery model in which we’re less connected to physical offices and can serve our clients from anywhere.
