Checked out Samsung's upcoming Gaming Hub yesterday in person. The Gaming Hub (for its smart TVs) was announced at #CES22 and will be released this year. Other gaming-focused features of 2022 QLED TVs were also showcased ?? ?? Samsung Electronics has an ambitious plan to aggregate cloud gaming services, offer game discovery / recommendations, and reduce friction of accessing / trying them. ?? Support for NVIDIA GeForce Now, Google Stadia, and Utomik were announced at CES, and Samsung says it's working to bring many other services on board. Given Microsoft Xbox's expressed desire to bring Game Pass to smart TVs, it's a safe bet that it will be included soon enough! ?? I was super impressed with a demo showing a noticeable reduction of input lag when cloud gaming on the 2022 QLED TV (thanks to optimisation of SoC / memory access). Should also reduce lag when console gaming. (I wasn't allowed to get a video of it, so you'll have to take my word for it!) ?? Samsung also showed off AI upscaling for cloud gaming - it's similar to Xbox Cloud Gaming's "Clarity Boost" feature. It's not magic, but it nevertheless visibily improves sharpness and detail of games. ?? The new QLED TVs were also touted as "the best gaming TV for winning" thanks to its 144Hz refresh rate, although it's worth noting that neither PS5 or XSX consoles go beyond 120Hz, so this currently only applies to PC gaming! #cloudgaming #samsung #qled #smarttv #gaminghub #stadia #geforcenow #utomik #xboxgamepass #gaming #videogameindustry #aggregation
